Event | Sinbrilee | Bacchanal
Characters: Any and all!
Date: August 24 - 30th
Location: Sinbrilee
Situation: An ancient festival of an ancient city, all are welcome at the Bacchanal!
Warnings/Rating: Please label threads as appropriate.
Death and destruction cannot curtail the single most important festival celebrated by the denizens of Sinbrilee: The Bacchanal! The ghosts in and about the city have begun to gossip about high fashion and festivities, sending any that inquire to the Amphitheatre -- a grand, circular structure nestled in the west side of the city.
This structure bore the fall of Sinbrilee and the wear of time with dignity, having lost handfuls of archways and one long stretch of wall to crumbling decay. Despite this, it is obvious that the amphitheatre once hosted many a display and every more festivities than the mind can grasp. This was their solace and safety; here is where the people of Sinbrilee came to find the mind's escape from all that threatened them and their great turtle.
Ghosts have been busy throughout the week, clearing paths through debris and hanging great cloth banners of soft blues and greens to disguise the more blatant signs of its decline. Many hundreds of them shimmer and slid through the area, providing for tables upon tables of food, offering drink, and overseeing competition of sport and skill (some even denying death's non-corporeal curse to enter).
Here, well... Here is where the party begins!

No audition, huh? Well, just give me the address and a date. I'd blow that test out of the water, anyway.
no subject
I don't think I'm going to have time for auditions at the start so, your audition is your first night. Help me keep the crowds happy and we'll be good to go.

[She nudges one of his legs with an elbow.]
So if you're so good, why don't you sing more back home? Why so choosy?
no subject
How about you tell me why you're marked by a god, and then I explain?
no subject
[She smiles, shrugs.]
I've been Jhirem's gifted for nine years.
no subject
I can warp reality with my voice.
no subject
[She trails off, turning to look at him thoughtfully.]
You can warp reality? How? I mean, is it always or something you do consciously?
no subject
[He cracks one eye open to look at her.] I can control it now, but I didn't used to be. How's too complicated to get into...as far as being here on the turtle express, I don't seem to be able to at all.
no subject
[Well shit. That seems a problem enough that she doesn't even think to answer his question, far more concerned with what he's just revealed.
Wait. Unless.]
Or did you mean you can't warp reality at all now that you're here? Is that what you meant?
no subject
[He closes his eyes again and kind of chuckles.] I can use it just fine for my other magic but it's not required.
no subject
[Tilting her head to the other side, she decides to keep poking at him with more questions. After all, he's not objecting to answering just yet...]
What is your other magic?
no subject
You owe me some answering first, hon. What was that about 'original twelve'?
no subject
The original twelve deities of Askoupur, where I'm from. [She smiles.] It's they who united our provinces, they who protect us, they who we sustain and in turn receive their gifts of power. Mine, since I'm sure you'll no doubt ask, is Jhirem.
no subject
[He considers her question for a moment, before spinning that finger he'd held up. at this distance, even the frost from the ice rose he creates is easy to feel.]
The other magic is just elemental stuff like this. I don't have to sing, but if it works...
no subject
Incredible.
[She pauses a moment, collecting herself.]
And Jhirem doesn't really rule over anything. The deities don't have dominion over things necessarily. I mean, some of them have things they're obviously drawn to but it doesn't mean they're in charge or anything.
no subject
[He's a little taken aback by her reaction. Magic is public and not well-received in his London, although given that's mostly because Witches and people making pacts with dark gods for power is bad for everyone.]
Odd way to look at a god. Usually that implies a certain mastery over their areas.
no subject
Mastery, perhaps, but no outright claim. It's not like in other worlds. What was it she said, Athena the Goddess of Wisdom? Poseidon the God of the Ocean? They just...are. They have their interests, things they like. Just like anyone else. That's all.

no subject
[She pauses.]
You can't actually see that I'm Gifted, can you?
no subject
no subject
[She shrugs, an attempt at modesty even if her deity-gift has only been given once before, and to a man who later became a hero of her country.]
no subject
no subject
Maybe, maybe not. They're just barely coping with three of me.
[She grins, making a little joke.]
