Grand Opening!
Characters: Bryn Zethir and EVERYONE!
Date: Friday Evening, September 13th
Location: Bryn's Unnamed Bar
Situation: It's time for a grand opening!
Warnings/Rating: None expected but label your own threads if necessary.
After weeks of scrimping and saving, planning, organizing, working every day to get everything just so, Bryn's tavern is finally ready to open. There were times she wasn't sure it was ever going to happen, because what did she know about running a business, having only been a customer all of her adult life? There was still a chance that this would spectacularly flop and she would be broke and back to square one again. But tonight isn't the night to worry about that. One thing Bryn does know how to do is throw a party.
So, the two story has been scrubbed and polished within an inch of its life. The lanterns inside and out are burning with fresh candles. The bar is fully stocked, the kitchen has been bustling all day with food preparations, and for tonight, the stage is occupied by some of Keeliai's finest and liveliest kedan musicians. At one corner corner of the first floor, a table with ten jars can be found. Before each jar is a suggested name for the new tavern, and baskets of smoothly polished pebbles to be used to cast votes. Each attendee is welcome to vote for the name of their choosing, and Bryn will call her tavern by whichever one is the most popular.
All that's missing are her guests, whom she hopes to keep as customers over the coming weeks, months, or however long Bryn's stay in the city is.

But then she asks what he can do, and he gets a little nervous again.
"Uh. Well. I'm really good at research and, uh."
Staying alive and completely human in a pack of werewolves and other shape-shifters? No, not going on the resume. Sniffing out dangerous situations and then sticking his nose in where it shouldn't belong? Probably not what she's looking for. Google searches and mountain ash barriers? Making sarcastic quips and pissing off authority figures? Being rejected by girls? Nope, nope, nope.
"...Busing tables. I'm the best busser in the busing business. I can bus with the best of 'em."
Nice cover, Stilinski.

But then again who needs a lot of experience for a tavern when they're just starting out? He could learn quickly since he seems smart and--seems to already know how to bus tables. Perfect.
"Well we could also use another person to bus tables around here," she replies, shifting her weight to one foot, then the other. "Think you could learn a couple other things in case we need you to fill in with other jobs too? Just in case, mind you."

...Back in the United States about minors serving alcohol. Here on the turtle, maybe not so much.
"I'd like that a lot, honestly. If you show me how to do it first, I'll pick it up pretty fast. I'm a quick study."

"Don't worry, we'll find out where you fit in best around here, one way or another. Here," she says, grabbing another glass from a passing tray and offering it to him. "To the newest member of our staff, hm?"
He looks old enough to drink. In her world, anyway.

"To...me! Thanks, Bryn."
And he takes an appropriately small sip. Because he learned his lesson at the Bacchanal, thanks.

"Thank me tomorrow after you've had a full shift, hm?" she replies with a grin. After all, tomorrow was going to involve a hell of a lot of clean up. "Got any questions you need answering now?"
no subject
He grins at her for that, because it is a pretty important question, and one that he has absolutely zero experience asking. Scott was the responsible one with a job back home. He was the slacker who took seven hours to do his homework at night.

She names a figure, more than just a few juulan an hour. It's more than competitive, and right now she has the funds to afford it. Later, if she has to switch things around, shift hours or something, she'll worry about it then. But for now, she can pay a little generously for her staff's hard work.

Considering how much he's spent on food since he's gotten here, that's completely competitive. And a large grin lights up his face.
"Done. Deal. Awesome! Thanks, Bryn. What time do you want me in for tomorrow's shift?"

He got a job. He got a job! Excellent. This was his first real job, too. He'd never had one back home.
