CLOSED TO NOT-SO-LITTLE DICK
[How much time had passed since she last slept? 36 hours? 48? It didn't matter, because she had yet to find a solution to the problem. Each day, new people were being affected. The waves were rippling all around the sectors, without any signs of slowing down. More importantly, people were pissed at her. Not everyone. But enough to motivate her to move a little faster.]
[Of course, that was a little difficult when one took into account two very hindering factors. For one, her translations weren't all done yet. She had pieces of the reversal ritual, but not the spell itself. For another...what little she did have, she was barely able to see anymore; her eyes were red and dry, and she looked ready to drop at any second.]
[Yet, stubbornness refused to allow herself to sleep, and so she continued to hover at her desk. Pouring over blurry words and out-of-focus diagrams.]
no subject
All except for one little detail. Zatanna.
Which is why he's knocking on her door right now. And you'd better believe he brought food.]
no subject
[She jumped at the sudden sound of knocking. Who would be visiting her--oh, this had better not be one of those jerks over the network yelling at her to speed things up. Or Loki. Seriously, what was with that guy? He was like an even smaller, stranger Klarion.]
[Rubbing at her eyes, Zatanna got to her feet. She let out two yawns on her way down to the door, absently rubbing her fingers through her hair as she reached the knob.]
For the last time, I'm working on--[Her mouth was left slightly agape, frozen, when she caught a good look at the boy standing on the other side. Specifically, stared up at him. Surprise didn't even begin to cut it.] ...it.
no subject
Working too hard. Zatanna, you look dead on your feet.
no subject
[...well, that settles any lingering questions as to who this was.]
Have I told you lately that you say the sweetest things to me, Dick?
[Because, really, who doesn't want to be reminded of how awful they look when standing in front of the really, really cute guy they just so happen to be dating? In fact, as retaliation, she doesn't even invite him in right away. Leaning against the doorframe to purposely block his way, she smiles up at him wearily, stiffening a yawn.]
I'm working too hard? That's cute. Says the certifiable workaholic himself.
no subject
[His tone gets gentler.]
Just take five minutes.
no subject
Yes. Yes, it is.
[Though she does finally tear her sight away from his matured features, and to the bag in his hands. A genuine smile appears, touched by the gesture. He was worried about her. If she were honest with herself, she couldn't blame him.]
Do you and the food come as a package deal?

CLOSED TO JACK(IE)
[Come Saturday, and still no cure.]
[But a promise was a promise, and so Zatanna made sure that all her things were secured twice over before grabbing her coat and bag and headed out the door...around the corner, to Jack's suite. Or Jackie, as she had taken to calling him in this form. A little big of magical mishap certainly wasn't going to stop either of them from their Swimming (Fake) Date.]
Hey! It's me. [Knock, Knock] You ready to go?
no subject
Hey Zatanna. What do you think?
no subject
[It was a stretch to say she was getting used to see Jack as a girl, but the shock value had at least worn off. Still, there was a hint of surprise at just how well the Winter Spirit had taken to his temporary gender reassignment. She gave him an appreciative glance up and down, carefully assessing the outfit, before nodding her approval.]
Congratulations. You're adorable.
[She took a step back, inviting him to come along. Her own outfit was fairly similar. In shades of purple, and in lieu of leggings she had on denim shorts, but otherwise they could have been mistaken for coordinating.]
There's a decent shop right on the way. We can get out suits there.
no subject
Julie did a french braid and helped with the clothes... it's holding pretty well.
[ He followed her out though if he'd known what she was thinking, he'd probably have laughed. Although he wasn't panicking about the transformation, it was still awfully weird for him. He simply didn't want her to feel worse about it and so kept most of his worries to himself. Not to mention that a few people had complimented him on the shape change... which was bizarre, and he hadn't wanted to offend them. ]
no subject
It looks really nice.
[She meant it, too. Whoever Julie was--she didn't ask, knowing Jack had even more friends on the Turtle than she did--her work was exquisite. Not too clean and tight, it was just loose enough to really show the flowiness of his long, white locks.]
It should keep the hair out of your face when we're in the water, too. I don't know why I didn't think of that.
Oh, well.
no subject
You've had a lot of other things on your mind this week, that's all.
[ And he hoped that this detour from her attempts at undoing what the magic had done meant that she wasn't being pressured unduly. ]

CLOSED TO KORRA
[It seemed almost ironic that Korra had become one of her allies in this whole mess, considering they had been ready to tear each other's throats out up until the day prior.]
[She'd been up for another sixteen hours straight, and while she'd promised she'd try and get more sleep when she could, the truth of the matter was that she might have gone a little overboard with the caffeine that last round. A few quick spins around the Turtle would help to burn off the excess energy, and she could think of no better flying partner than a certain Avatar.]
[So she called up Korra on a whim, wanting to see if the girl was Free, and if so, to meet her at the Wood park entrance for a few races.]
no subject
Not glide, FLY.
She had been about the turtle doing anything and everything. Helping people, preventing car crashes, and even doing her fishing made up most of her early morning. Even waking up early had become a thing since she acquired her new power set.
Whatever it was, she loved it. So when she got the call from Zee, Korra was more than happy to oblige. She knew the magician was under a microscope right now, something she had experienced when she burned down the clinic. Back then Korra got help from friends, and now she was doing her part as best she could.
Sipping on the straw from a juice box she picked up along the way, Korra landed down at the entrance way to the park.]
You look- awake. [She held out an un-punctured juice box to her.] What’s up?
no subject
That's what happens when certain someones barge into your room and force you to sleep.
[Maybe a slight exaggeration of the events that had transpired, but she was hardly complaining. In fact, the memory brought about a new wave of happiness to both her thoughts and expression.]
I was wondering if you wanted to run away with me for a little bit. An hour or two at most. One more spell book, and I'm going to start setting things on fire...which might be a bad idea, considering I live in the Wood Sector and all.
no subject
[While Korra knew the magician was fully capable of handling herself, she had just earned her friendship back and the thought of someone invading her privacy was unsettling to say the least.]
Sure, I've got free time. [Getting her entire daily routine done in mere minutes left Korra with practically entire days of goofing off.]
And yeah, setting up fires is a very bad idea. Trust me.
no subject
Nah. Dick made sure to knock first and everything before making with the orders. He's in the clear.
[...oh. Right. She'd kind of set fire to Kyle's clinic or something a while back, hadn't she?]
[Not really a subject she felt like dwelling on. Not this week.]
[Moving on.]
How good a hold do you have on your flying? ...you can still fly, can't you?
no subject
Burning down the clinic, working with Kyle at the clinic, finding her predecessor almost dying at the clinic...
Yeeeah, skipping the subject would be best.]
That's how I got here, and it's just gotten better since the first day. [When she accidentally flew through the top floor of a skyscraper in Metal, but that was waaaay back then. Way, way, way back then.
Like almost two days or something.]

All great strategies, except for the time a human mage accidentally kicked reality in the balls and distorted everyone's everything. Except for this time, where Loki dared not fool with anything that might put him in a precarious position. He has a small green glass bauble on a thin ribbon when he finds himself up on Zatanna's rooftop, rolling it in the fingers of his left hand. Dressed in loose mortal fashions and alarmingly petite as he is, he's a singularly unimpressive godling. Even so, he was one that had moved with a certain alarming silence and stealth.
Hey, he wasn't coming up here without some sort of warding available to him. ]
Enjoying your fresh air, magician?
no subject
[She was sitting cross-legged on the ground when his presence made itself known. Not magically--the entire Turtle was pulsating with far too much magic for her to be able to sense a single entity--but, rather, it was his voice that first caused her to glance up from her latest reading assignment.]
I have a name, you know.
Zatanna.
no subject
Zatanna then. I suppose I should introduce myself better than I had the other day. I am Loki, son of the house of Odin and the blood of Laufey. I am a prince of Asgard, and the god of mischief and lies.
[ He says all of this with a practiced cadence as he walks over to her, and it carries an odd formality. Names had their own kinds of power, after all. He clearly intends to sit by his new magician friend that he only somewhat wanted to strangle. He wouldn't, couldn't, but he certainly did wish he could. ]
Nice to meet you formally and all that.
no subject
That's a mouthful.
Learning to spell your name in kindergarten must've been a challenge.
[If he wanted to sit, she wasn't going to say no. If he wanted to strangle her, however, that might be a bit of a problem.]
no subject
Really, it's more of a resume than anything else.
[ He shrugs his shoulders as he settles by her. ]
no subject
Interesting resume. Not many people are usually willing to hire someone who admits to lying and causing trouble.
Really, all you had to say was 'hi, I'm Loki and I can do magic' and you would've been set.
