Obi-Wan is still somewhat adjusting to things here on Keeliai. So the fact that the giant turtle makes landfall on a continent is surprising and piques his curiosity.

He can be found either wandering around the streets of Keeliai or Tavimbi. Willing to talk to just about anybody. Especially the Kedan and the Tavimbi natives.

Upon sensing a power that is not unlike the Force within Tavimbi, which he comes to know as the Xunutane, he will make checking that out his highest priority.

Obi-Wan has been keeping quiet for a reason, so he's a little surprised when a young lady he's never actually met comes up to him out of the blue.

"That's right, I was. And who might you be?"

"I'm Pepper, Pepper Potts." She holds out a hand. "I was one of the people in the lab when it blew up," she explains. There's just the slightest hesitation as she says it, and she covers it with a smile. "You must be new to Keeliai; I know most of the Foreigners here. Thing usually don't explode very often. Mostly. At least not literally."

Obi-Wan doesn't hesitate to shake her hand. "I'm Obi-Wan Kenobi, it's a pleasure to meet you Miss Potts."

He couldn't help a bit of a chuckle at her observation. The Foreigners did seem like a close knit group.

"You've got me. And I'm certainly glad to hear that."

Pepper's smile is replaced with a stunned expression - he looked kind of like a Jedi cosplayer at Comicon, but... apparently he is the Jedi.

What.

"Oh my god, you're actually literally seriously Obi-Wan Kenobi? Like, Jedi Knight Obi-Wan? Holy cow. But you're - " Just a character from a movie. Uh. Is Star Wars real in some way? "Do you have a lightsaber? Is Yoda really that short? What was the last planet you were on?"

And also: what.

The Jedi? Obi-Wan wouldn't agree with that if he knew that's what she was thinking. There are other Jedi that are or have been greater than he. But what he definitely wasn't expecting was recognition by this girl and the rather... enthusiastic response. It catches him off guard.

"... Yes?" ... "Yes and yes... and I'm not sure I should answer that." The fact that she knows so much about him and the other Jedi is a little disconcerting. He did recently have to flee for his life after all.

What is even going on here.

Well, okay, that Jedi; she knows he's not the only one that exists, but a lot of people dress up like him during certain weekends in New York City. Still, he's famous.

"Wow. Wow." She's not so far gone into shock that she doesn't notice his refusal to answer the last question, to which she assures him: "I'm totally not on the Dark Side or anything. I'm not even from where you come from, not even a little bit. Apparently we live in a galaxy far, far away oh my god," she continues, dissolving into thrilled laughter. "This is so far beyond cool you have no idea - oh my god, is this what it's like when people meet, like, the Beatles or superheroes?"

If that's the case, she's going to have to get used to it now that (as far as Tony tells her) their identities are known back home.

"You're right I don't."

He has absolutely no idea what is going on here. "You may not be with the Dark Side but you haven't explained how you know any of this." Especially since she's not from his galaxy. How is that even possible?

"Uh."

Just as quickly as Pepper's thoughts come screeching to a panicked halt, she switches gears and she's off again.

"George Lucas. Technically. But that probably doesn't mean anything to you, so let's just go with apparently our worlds overlap a little and where I come from your, uh, story is kind of seriously famous. Like, mega huge." Does she have to be careful about this? What'll happen if he finds out he's fictional from her perspective? ~~He'll probably take it a lot better than you will, Pepper.~~ "Do you guys have multiverse theory where you come from?"

Pepper, no. Do not tell the nice Jedi that he's just so many words on paper where you come from. It's just an existential crisis in the making.

A brow lifts at that. There is a name he's not familiar with and apparently his story is famous in some other world? Obi-Wan isn't sure what to make of this. It's strange and more than a little disturbing. But the Jedi Master retains his calm and keeps his feelings in check despite it all.

"That's not something I'm familiar with, no."

"Well, it's basically what you're looking at in Keeliai. We're all from different worlds, or realities or universes," Pepper elaborates at speed. "And this is some kind of crossover point or whatever - no one really knows how all that works, but whatever. Anyway, I guess maybe sometimes other worlds can cross over a little, too. Although that raises some seriously interesting and terrifying questions that I probably shouldn't ask unless I want a headache the size of Montana."

Namely, that there might be shades of an answer to the question 'why are we here' that she really isn't up for exploring.

"But you're an actual Jedi! This is awesome," she gushes. When all else fails, ignore the existential dilemma in the china shop.

Stroking his chin thoughtfully, Obi-Wan listened to Pepper's explanation. It did make some sense in a twisted sort of way. He couldn't deny the fact that realities seemed to converge in this place. So certainly it must be possible in other ways and places as well. Though he never would have suspected people from other universes to know who he is or what he's experienced. But yes, ignoring the giant Bantha in the room, let's just move on the next one.

"Yes, well. It's not quite as 'awesome' as you might think. At least... not anymore."

Being a Jedi isn't exactly a cool kid's club at the point in which he comes from.

Pepper is about to launch into a whole new series of questions and exclamations but Obi-Wan's comment is immediately sobering. She's seen Star Wars enough to have an inkling of insight into what he might be referring to.

"Oh. Yeah. Sorry. That... really sucks," she sympathizes. "I mean, the situation might be pretty awful but... well, you're still you, and you're basically great. You save a lot of people, fight bad guys, and you've got some pretty fantastic powers - where I come from that makes you a superhero," Pepper says with an encouraging smile.

Well this is certainly a bit odd and awkward. He didn't know this girl, but from her response she seemed to know a lot about him. Apparently she knew what he was referring to. Still he managed a small smile.

"You're very kind," he says appreciatively. He knows she means well. Despite all of that, he wasn't able to save those closest to him. Not to mention the only home he had ever known was destroyed. He certainly didn't feel like a superhero. But that also brings him to wonder...

"Just how much do you know?"

"Um." This is complicated, why are there not rules about this sort of thing? "Possibly a lot, but also probably not nearly everything," she answers evasively. "You're kind of a historical figure where I come from."

'Long, long ago' and all that. Pepper considers suggesting he use his abilities to sense whether she's lying or dangerous or similar, but maybe that would only make him more uncomfortable. She does know an awful lot about him, after all.

He considers this for a moment. If he was a historical figure to her than that would mean she would know of his past and possibly his future. Treading carefully might be the way to go here.

"In that case, I suppose I can answer your other question. I was last on Tatooine."

Obi-Wan then waited to see how she would respond to that. And as far as using his abilities to sense if she was lying, he was already doing that. He would have called her out on it if he'd suspected as much.

Tatooine. Pepper does a quick calculation, taking into account his age and the number of times she remembers seeing him on that particular planet, and grimaces slightly. If being a Jedi is no longer a great thing, and if he's from when she thinks he is... then the worst has already happened. Or at least the worst for a while.

"Yikes." She looks at him a little sadly, and then shakes her head. "You know, this stupid spell has a really bad habit of pulling people away from home at like the worst possible time. The least it could do is bring a few therapists along, too."

Because if it was going to keep dragging people in and out of traumatic events, a little help dealing with those events might tamp down on the volatility around here.

Well... it seemed that he wouldn't need to say anymore. Pepper seemed to have an idea of the situation he had been in. So Obi-Wan would leave it at that.

"Does it now. Well, then perhaps you are right. But in my experience, little seems to happen conveniently. Unless it was planned out."

"Yeah, half us seem to have been snatched out of a fight or a war or an alien Armageddon or something. I guess since we're supposed to be 'warriors' it's not that strange, maybe but... Doesn't make it suck any less."

Needless to say, Pepper is not looking forward to what awaits her the moment she arrives back home.

"Other than things blowing up, are you liking Keeliai okay?" she asks, wanting to move away from less pleasant thoughts.

Ah... well then. It seems that Obi-Wan is not alone for having been pulled away at a bad time. He will simply have to adjust as all the other Foreigners here have.

"It's a little primitive for my liking," he admits. "But the Kedan seem like a decent people, if not a bit suspicious of us."

"The Foreigners have always been a bit of a mixed bag, I think. We've created almost as many problems as we've solved it seems like, even if it wasn't on purpose," Pepper muses. "But for the most part they've gotten used to us, especially the people that have been here for a really long time."

The kedan did seem a bit fickle, but on the whole they accepted and dealt with the Foreigners just like everyone else.

Well, to be fair, Obi-Wan has encountered more suspicious and hostile races than the Kedan. He can't entirely blame them for their wariness. Especially if what Pepper says is true.

"I see. I assume there are efforts being made to improve our standing with the Kedan." Or at least he would hope so.

"Nothing official, really. But we all live here, and with everything the Foreigners are trying to do to move the turtle and wake him up and defend the city and stuff, we've gained a few brownie points," she answers with a smile.

"I see. So a few good deeds here and there but no structure."

This gave him thoughtful pause.

"I've heard that some Foreigners have been here for years. But I have yet to see any real organization among us."

"It's kind of hard to organize when people keep coming and going as often as they do," Pepper points out. "The Welcome Center is about the most organized we've got right now. But, um, I'm actually working on something that could be big. Huge, actually. Keeliai doesn't have a government, and they've never really had one that was any kind of good, so I'm sort of trying to get the ball rolling on a kedan-built democracy."

And any help is greatly appreciated.

"Oh really, that's certainly good to hear."

Obi-Wan was all for democracy, though he must admit he's quite surprised that someone as young as Pepper was taking it upon herself to set this up.

"I would be more than happy to lend you my assistance should you need it."
