Characters: Rose Tyler, Clara Oswald, Jim Kirk, Spock, Kyle Rayner + The Doctor & Jack
Date: Around 7/2-7/3
Location: Jim's place
Situation: After things go horribly wrong and their entire team gets busted up, it's time to relax and unwind.
Warnings/Rating:TBA
[After everything was said and done, Clara and Rose managed to get the boys right on out of captivity, but not without some setbacks of their own. Rose's own particular form of setback came in the shape of nasty bumps to the head and a broken wrist, but they weren't anything she couldn't handle. Actually, she kinda liked the stitches over her left eye, she thought they made her look tough. And someone like Rose always needs to look more tough than they really are, she looks as harmless as a kitten otherwise.
The rest of her team has their own various injuries, and now that they've all been discharged from medical attention they're all currently sprawled about in Jim's place. She's mostly taken to lounging in her old room, curled up in bed and sleeping everything off. She's sent word to both the Doctor and Jack of her location, without quite letting them know that she's been hurt. She figures they can see it when they arrive and she can diffuse things from there.
But until that point? She's perfectly content to just bask in the feeling of survival with her teammates, all of them right there with her. She knows they're safe, they're alive, and they got through it together. It's a pretty fantastic feeling.]

Kyle & The Doctor meet and things happen
She's left the Doctor in her room, and goes to retrieve Kyle, returning with him only a few minutes later.]
Thought it was about time the two of you met and everything. Kyle, this is the Doctor. He's -
[She pauses, glancing up at the Doctor with an embarrassed smile as she tries to think of how to describe his relation to her.]
He's the most important person in the world to me. In all the worlds that're out there, really. And Doctor?
[She fixes him with a look that says play nice]
This is Kyle. He's one of the first people I met when I arrived here, he's taken real good care of me. He's important to me too.

So he can't really say he's pleased that he's got to stay here and play house. Though he is with Rose, so he guesses it's a fair trade. He knows it's a fair trade, actually, but it wasn't voluntary, so he doesn't have to be happy about it.
And meeting Rose's friends never works out particularly well. But he supposes he should give Kyle a chance.
He stands when they enter the room, giving him a no-teeth smile.]
Hello there! Pleasure to meet you, I'm the Doctor.
[And sticks his hand out for a good shake.]
no subject
[The other thing that's flaring in him is that this isn't his Doctor. He's taller and... weird. Kyle can't read him at all and he's sure this one won't want to put on the fez he still has kept in a box, somewhere. He's trying not to rely on his pre-formed impressions but Rose - all the care and fraternal love he feels for Rose is messing with his judgement.]
[There is, however, one thing no Doctor can lie about, and Kyle goes for it, on instinct. For the kind of implicit trust he gave the one (the version?) who was here previously, it's a risk with a large payoff.]
Kyle Rayner, final light of the universe, last of the Green Lanterns.
[His handshake is firm, and professional, but behind the smile his eyes are keen, and intense, speaking of an experience well beyond his twenty-five years.]
no subject
He retracts his hand and grins, but there's a hard edge to it.]
Right. Well, like I said, the Doctor, last of the Time Lords, but I'm sure you knew that already, or else you wouldn't have said your thing.
[Because no one introduces themselves as the last of their race unless they want people to know. It's not something the Doctor likes to brag about.]
Light of the universe, though? What's that supposed to mean? Did y'know Rose here absorbed the Time Vortex once? Saw all of time and space in her head, every single thing, every single moment, every life, every death and every atom being split apart and reformed. Saw what I see constantly, actually. Not many do that and live to talk about it.
no subject
Hadn't told him 'bout that, actually. Don't usually tell people that story.
[Because it was her fault the Doctor died. He regenerated, of course, into the man right here with her, but he still died. Because of her. It's not a story she's proud of.]
I did live, though. And I'm alive right now.

I’ve been here almost seven months. People come and go with and without memories, and there’s too many shapeshifters and spies. It’s unwise to take things at face value. [Polite, and firm. He’s not sorry for using that test, he is only providing his reason for it. Then, he gives Rose an unspoken cue to go, he can handle this. Kyle’s already intending to play nice, he just needs a bit of time to adjust to Ten.]
It’s nice to meet you anyway. I’m guessing since... this you haven’t met me yet, that the other you is from the future?
[He holds up his ring, which pulses with light, emitting a soft, green glow that surrounds his hand.]
Everyone can see Oa - that’s the Corps’ home - it’s a green speck in the sky [his throat constricts as he sees the orbital defences shattering, the black rings overwhelming them--] but this was the last source of that light for a long time. [A shrug, slightly apologetic. It’s heavy on his shoulders, too.] People like giving titles.
[He doesn’t react to that annoyed retelling of Rose’s escapade. He doesn’t like telling people about Ion, either. It’s not theirs, not in the way being the last of their kind is his and the Doctor’s. Either way, he never thought of Rose as lesser than him. She’s every bit his equal, one of his People, and her stories will be shared in due time, if she sees fit. Not.. shoved in Kyle’s face, like this.]

[She nervously chuckles, eyes rapidly shifting back and forth between the two of them. She definitely saw Kyle's hint to vacate, and while she definitely doesn't want to because she wants to prevent a fight, she also respects him enough to grant him the request.]
Think I'm gonna go...find Clara. See if she's doing alright?
[She steps in close to the Doctor then, rising up on her tiptoes to whisper in his ear: Play nice. And then she's slipping out of the room, but not going too far. She's waiting out in the hall, sliding down the wall to sit on the floor and keep an ear out for trouble.]
no subject
And he's not trying to be someone he's not. He's not putting on any kind of show because he thinks it'll earn some sort of respect. He doesn't want respect and he doesn't need it, frankly. He just wants Rose to be safe, and the fact that she's injured shows that someone messed up. He's not saying it's Kyle, but he's not not saying it's Kyle either.
He examines the ring from a polite distance, though truthfully it does seem the kind of thing that he'd find interesting in almost any other situation. He's about to answer when Rose interrupts, and he wants to tell her to stay, but he doesn't. She'd stay if she thought she really needed to. He nods.]
Fine. See you later.
[He doesn't respond to the whisper, only gives her a fond, soft look once she's turned her back and made her way out the door. He knows she won't go far.]
Titles, yeah, you're right. [He turns back to Kyle, face gone to neutral again. He supposes he can give this a go.] People do love them, don't they? Odd. Always hated them, too much pressure.
[And then he remembers that there was a question somewhere in there.]
Right! Future, yes, future me wears a bow-tie, though I couldn't for the life of me tell you why. I take it you met him and he made some sort of impression on you. I tend to do that. Leave impressions. Sorry if it wasn't a good one.
no subject
[When he looks at Ten, he’s not sure what to make of that neutral, slightly distant expression. He opts to be friendly (he'd wanted kinship, after all). It’s his default, after all, to come off as not a threat, in a way that doesn’t make the other party feel smaller than someone who could easily blot out a sun with a thought. And anyway, snarling at each other because they both want to protect Rose is ridiculous. Kyle’s already been through this with Jim Kirk, he’s not about to make the same mistake with someone he actually likes (in the future, but still. Wibbly wobbly, timey wimey).]
Future you had a fez, too. [He can’t keep the fondness from his tone, or the smile from his face. He liked Eleven a lot.] It’s.. uhm not about the impression thing, just-- [a slight cough] we were [friends] allies. I’m... not sure how all of that works. None of his - yours? - travelling companions were here, last time.
[w o w awkward. Slight change of subject? He exhales, quietly. Rivers bend, he reminds himself. You’re doing this for Rose.]
Did you get put in Wood Sector again? The Emperor probably thought it was funny, since [waves a hand] screwdriver.
no subject
And ah, of course, another who made friends with a different version of him. He was right.]
When I die, I regenerate. Means I get a new body and face and fashion sense, apparently. You've ah, met me after I've regenerated from this body into my next. I've got no memory of you, I'm sorry.
[And he is. He knows one of the only things that could be worse than dying for the Doctor is begin forgotten by him. He doesn't like to bring people pain, no matter how much of a Mood he may be in. But he nods at the subject change. Fine, easier that way.]
I did, yeah. Anyone ever tell your Emperor she's got a twisted sense of humor? [He frowns. He doesn't like not being able to use the sonic.]
no subject
People've tried, she takes it about as well as you'd expect.
[And then he frowns.]
When people die here they come back in the same body - did somebody explain the clone theory to you?
no subject
Yes! Someone mentioned it. Er, Connor? Kent? [He makes a face. Not so good with names.]
Said something about clones being made somewhere around here. Didn't seem to know whether or not they were still doing it. Not much information, really. Do you have more?
no subject
[Shakes his head.]
There was a cloning facility under the turtle that was destroyed several months ago. You can ask Percy Jackson. As for whether it's still being done, no one's sure until we stumble across another facility. I haven't heard of the transplants dying since then.
no subject
[He raises an eyebrow.]
Percy Jackson? He's privy to more information than everyone else?
no subject
no subject
[And a small pause.]
Did he ever say why? And what d'you mean by 'transplants dying'?
no subject
[Beat.]
It's more of -- hold on, let me just show you. [He gestures to the console, walks over, and some time later manages to bring up the announcement.]
no subject
Hang on, you said he destroyed it. He's saying the kedan did it. Which was it?
no subject
Oh. Right. [Rubs his head.] Sorry. This was a while ago. The kedan probably destroyed it after seeing them there, but-- [a helpless shrug] depends. Face value and all.
no subject
So this is what you lot were investigating?
no subject
With the cult, you mean?
no subject
Was it a cult you infiltrated?
no subject
A cult, yeah. Same one that was tied to the gang wars last year. Evandau's people had reason to believe they might be involved with what was going on with the turtle's health.
no subject
Did you manage to find out anything?
no subject
Luckily, they weren't in it deep. Problem's wrapped up now.
[Dying tended to do that problems.]
