A. [Gene] throughout Keeliai | early April | open
Of late, Gene has carried himself with his usual poise and grace, despite the fact that he's harboring a dead lady and is preparing to delve into the politics of Keeliai properly. But this is nothing new for him, really - it was revisiting his early days of taking up the mantle of Mandarin in a twisted way, running the Tong, keeping Stark in the dungeon, brokering peace with the Maggia (or trying to).

But he thinks he likes the Keeliai version a lot better.

He's being more social among the kedan than usual, frequenting teahouses, visiting artisans, dropping by the College. More flies with honey than with vinegar, after all.

B. [Jackie] Water Sector | early April | open
Jackie's been doing a lot of procurement for his bar. And wouldn't you know it - setting up a bar is a lot of work! He'd known that Mrs. Chu did a lot of work for his bar's namesake, but surely a restaurant was different than a bar, right?

As of right now, he's trying to sweet-talk a kedan merchant into selling him alcohol in bulk at a decent price. "Come on, man, I have approval from Aroyan to do this. I have the money. My juulan are just as good as everyone else's, right?"

C. [Deon] The College | early April | open
Deon's been spending more time at the College than at SI lately. Ruefully, he thinks he should have applied there in the first place; SI had been more what he'd known, true, but the College was more in line with what he wanted to do. Not that Stark Industries wasn't better than Tetravaal, in its own way - but academia felt safer. And what also felt safer was tinkering with Tavimbian technology in a lab where it wouldn't be property of Xuiyu by virtue of being in the building. (He's not sure if that's how it works - but why take the chance?)

D. [Peridot] Throughout Keeliai | early April | open
Peridot was no longer welcome on the Morrigan. And with good reason. Drugging the captain is kind of a way to get on his shit list.

Gems don't need to eat, and they don't need sleep. But Peridot has been wandering all the same, feeling something...different. Whatever it is, she doesn't like it, and she's walking around with a hangdog look on her face.

E. [Gene] Jade Dojo | early April | closed to Valdis
Valdis' return hadn't surprised Gene much. Nor had her departure. He would have done the same, so he hadn't judged her. But he felt there was still a need to talk to her all the same.

After the students leave and they're cleaning up, he turns to her. "I don't think I've properly welcomed you back."

F. [Peridot] The Morrigan | April 10 | closed to Shay
Peridot hadn't meant her experiment to do the damage that it had done. Honest. Pinky swear. And she hadn't meant to make Shay angry. Well, making Shay angry had been the point; increasing emotions was the point of Dust, and thus the point of the experiment.

But Peridot was now feeling something like remorse. And after talking to a handful of people, she thinks she knows what to do.

Taking a deep breath, she knocks on the cabin door.

G. [Jackie] The Hotel | early April | closed to Obi-Wan
Jackie had seen the post on the consoles, and hadn't thought much of it, until weird things started happening around him.

Like in the fight with the Snakes. Granted, it had been after Valdis had shown up, but...

He wanted to bring it up anyway. The last time he'd developed powers...it hadn't been good.

So he finds Obi-Wan. "Hey...you said you wanted to hear about weird stuff happening, right?"

H. [Deon] Metal Sector | April 10 | closed to Vincent
Deon is making his way back to the Hotel from work when he passes a particular alley - one he's marked off in his mind as 'Vincent's alley'.

He doesn't know why - he's actually tried to avoid it. But the Dreaming has had other plans for him today, and his feet have found him here.

There's a familiar shape on the ground in the alley.

"...Vincent?"

I. [Gene] House Iron Dragon | April 10 | closed to Tony
Gene hasn't been sleeping so well these days.

He usually doesn't, but most nights he can roll over and listen to Tony's breathing and go back to sleep.

Lately, though, his thoughts have been keeping him more awake than he'd like, so if that doesn't work, he slips out of bed and goes to sit on the roof to look at the stars. He's been doing this for a few weeks and Tony hasn't seemed to catch wise.

Sanzo...Was not in a very good mood. He rarely was but he was in an especially poor one today and he had been lacking anyone obnoxious and cheerful to take his temper out on of late. More sweeping or, worse, sitting alone in he and Amberdrake's hotel room was hardly helping.

So he, too, was wandering. He'd needed to find some other kind of employment at some point, so it didn't hurt to look around while he burning off some frustrated energy. Not that he had a clue where he was really going or how he was going to with both arms injured... He hadn't even left the central district yet.

Well that was obnoxious. Obnoxiously green and coming from the other direction with a look on her face that reminded him of Drake's sadness. That just made him more annoyed.

Sanzo paused, looking down at the little Gem as she neared. When he was sure she could hear him clearly over any surrounding noise he commented, "You're bright enough to give me a headache. Can't you cover that shit up?"

Rich words from the man with pristine, freshly bleached white robes and bright golden blond hair. And petty words at that but he was in a good deal of pain on top of everything else going wrong.

Peridot was far from the brightest object in Keeliai, and far from the brightest Gem on Homeworld. There were a whole bunch of Pearls flashier than she was. Compared to most Gems, in fact, she was pretty plain - just a technician.

But this guy seemed angry, like Shay had been with the Dust (her fault, and that made her feel oddly smaller than she already was), and that made her shrink back a little before she decided she was completely unimpressed with whoever this was.

Or at least, she decided to appear that way.

"What."

A kid? No this didn't look like a child, just small and upset. Oh an act was it? Sanzo knew that act well enough, with how unimpressed he looked in return. But dammit if he didn't have an annoying knack of giving a shit about upset strangers. This one looking to be another "foreigner" like him. Maybe. He knew about the soul gems and all that crap, a bracelet of red beads and a small, star shaped brown stone around his wrist. Having one imbedded in one's forehead was... something.

He crouched down to be more on her level, pulling his right arm up to rest on his legs while he did so. Letting it hit the ground right now was going to be considerable pain!

"The hell is your problem?" he asked with hostility to cover his actual curiosity. "That look on your face is more annoying than the rest of you."

Peridot squinted at him. Oh, she was so not up for this. Not with everything else going on. Not with her head yelling at her worse than Shay had and her insides feeling weird and twisty.

"None of your business," she said, just as hostilely, but in her case it was also a bluff. If it went on for much longer, it'd become clear that her heart wasn't really in it. "And if you want to talk about things being annoying, you should try picking on someone your own size. You mess with me, you're messing with Yellow Diamond, too."

A blatant lie - Peridot had been feeling lost since she couldn't contact the Diamond Authority at all - but hey, what this guy didn't know couldn't hurt him.

"...Terrifying." Sanzo wasn't the least bit impressed. If this "Yellow Diamond" was a threat to him, they'd be here and they better be more intimidating than this little green thing.

"Look," he said, dropping a good deal of the hostility for bluntness. "If you keep walking around looking like someone just punched you in the gut, you might well end up actually get punched. Or punted, in your case."

He stood back up, not seeing this really getting either of them anywhere. "Another word of advice: Don't give out idle threats, you'll get yourself killed."

Peridot paused, suddenly surprised by this good advice. It wasn't like she hadn't gotten poofed a few times before since she'd gotten here, anyway.

"Yeah, well," she grumbled. "Not like that's new."

At least nobody here knew about the only way to really kill a Gem.

"Not a fast learner?" Sanzo remarked. Maybe getting her properly angry would stop that stupid kicked puppy look for a while. At very least so he wouldn't have to see it again.

Good job, Sanzo - Peridot bristled at the remark.

"Of course I am. I'm one of the brightest Gems. What do you take me for, a Pearl?"

Another term went sailing over Sanzo's head but that didn't mean he couldn't be an asshole about it!

"I'll give you the bright thing, you're painful to look at." He'd already used that one but it was just too easy. "What the hell are you anyways? Not all of you are this eye-searing are you?"

"I'm a Gem, and if you find me painful to look at you don't deserve to look upon my brilliance!"

Uh-oh, she's bypassed angry and gone into haughty.

It was quite the struggle not to laugh. She had as quick a temper as he did and that was saying something!

"Mmm, Gem eh? I was guessing lamp. What do you even do? Or are "Gems" just short and obnoxious?" Sanzo might be having too much fun here.

"I'm a technician, and a certified Kindergartener," Peridot says proudly, unaware of how that is going to sound to a human.

"Gems are the most advanced lifeforms in the universe!"

Okay he really couldn't help but laugh. He at least covered his mouth but it was pretty obvious with how his shoulders were shaking and he had to look away until he could get some control over himself. His voice was gloriously snide and amused when he did get around to replying.

"I can see that. Is it your advancement and kindergarten training-" He had to choke back another laugh. "-that makes you such arrogant little shits while walking around like someone stole your favorite crayon?"

Peridot bristled. It was a wonder she hadn't seen that coming - but then again, she didn't know anything about humans or their culture.

"Kindergarten machinery is highly complex!" she shouts. "And it's not arrogance when you're the best!"

This was like dealing with a smaller, brighter Lirin but with less threat involved. Pity it was unlikely he could just throw food at this one to make her calm down. The kindergarten joke was fantastic but he was starting to get tired of poking at the easy target.

"The best huh?" Sanzo replied, amused but back to looking unimpressed. "What do you have to be so damned mopey about if you're so great?"
