Characters: Fletch and Raine
Date: 7th May
Location: Healer's Guild
Situation: Fletch has been overworking himself, partly on purpose.
Warnings/Rating: None
The Guild is busier than ever, especially since two of their staff have seemingly disappeared. Everyone is pulling their weight, working harder to keep up the influx of patients, particularily since Milyn was still out of action.
This newest speight of hallucinations and headaches had everyone on their toes, diagnosing and investigating the root cause, and one of the forefront figures is Nurse Fletcher. He's really taking to the role, making sure everyone knows where to go, that the right tests are done, and that all the patients are seen to.
In fact, there doesn't seem to be a moment when Nurse Fletcher isn't visible, talking to staff, patients, relatives, etc... At least up until the afternoon of the 7th when he seemingly disappears.
Anyone walking past one of the storerooms, however, will hear a weird noise that doesn't belong in a storeroom.
It sounds like someone snoring.

Come the seventh Raine is hunting Fletch down to check in with him, but he seems to have all but vanished. Finally she resorts to trying to orient on his mana signature. She hasn't known him quite long enough to pick him out of a crowd with accuracy, but the general sense of him is coming from this direction, and eventually, after a few passes back and forth, the noise catches her attention.
She unlocks the storeroom and peers in, and sure enough, there's Fletch. Raine doesn't know whether to laugh or yell at him. She settles for stepping in to let the door close behind her, and crosses to Fletch to reach down and shake his shoulder.

It takes a few moments for the penny to drop, before he's scrabbling to sit up.
"A-Ah, Professor Sage, I..." He stammers, trying to think of an excuse. "I, this isn't..."

The NHS wasn't exactly well-funded. Staff often had to work long hours with a few hours nap in the staff room between.
"Besides, it's not your responsibilities that's getting a bit out of hand." With the few staff they still had... Yeah. Just keeping on top of everything so they don't have a massive backlog was a challenge.

Yes, she is listening to herself, and she does intend to take her own advice, but this takes priority. "You won't be any use to anyone if you run yourself into the ground like this," she adds, not unkindly, though she still looks stern.

"You remind me of Ms Campbell." He remarks. "She'd say exactly the same thing." And he sighs heavily. "Alright." He raises his hands in mock surrender. "You win..." A pause. "But if you get busy again, call me, yeah?"
He means it. No sense rushing everyone off their feet. Besides, Raine will likely get the feeling that Fletch has been working overtime on purpose.

She unfolds her arms to reach down, offering Fletch a hand up if he wants it. "If we're overwhelmed, I'll call you, but I think we can handle things right now. Take care of yourself first, Fletch."
She's not completely oblivious to Fletch's need to be working, but there's only so long someone can keep that up before they burn themselves out, and that she won't have.

"Alright. Alright, you've made your point." He replies, in mock defeat, but he does accept a hand up.
"Thanks."

Well, since she's made her point, there's no need to belabor it. "It's no more than you've been doing," she points out. "And we, perhaps more so than some others, need to look after each other."
No thanks needed. She tilts her head toward the door, clearly intending to see him out. She's not planning to let him out of her sight until she's sure he's gone.

"Yeah, I understand." He shifts, looking back, grinning a bit tiredly. "And I agree. Really."

"...Thank you."
