[Open] To Keep Your Peace (June Catch-All)
Characters: Padmé Amidala
angelofnaboo and you
Date: The month of June
Location: All over Keeliai
Situation: June Catch-all
Warnings/Rating: None yet
Sky Sector June 1st - 7th
If one were to pay attention, it is easy to spot Padmé as she goes around in the mornings, inspecting the free houses. Paper and pen are in her hand as she meticulously writes while making remarks to no one in particular. She still cooks meals at the Hotel, but it's obvious that she is spending less and less time there, as more of her time is spent looking for a house and working at the library.
Her once small stack of papers has now become a massive pile that takes up two folders. She has a regular table at the library, that is constantly covered in her work, tiny and neat handwriting the predominate feature of the sheets.
Towards the end of the week, she can be found taking items to a pleasant looking house with a yard large enough for a few strange looking animals that she also has to lead by hand.
Water/Earth/Metal/Fire Sectors June 8th -14th
With Obi-Wan gone, Padmé is attempting to talk to the connections her friend had made with the merchants in different districts. While she doesn't mind the government work, learning what she can from the actual people is far more important than anything written in "official" documents. A lot of what she hears is what she's read about, once she gets the people to talk. It's a feat easier said than done, considering the pervading distrust of Foreigners.
But it does give her a chance to get out and do something other than hide in the hotel and library under the guise of "too much groundwork to be done". And she's managed to settle more than one dispute between the merchants, using her skills of diplomacy and negotiating in ways she hasn't really had the chance to do since her arrival.
Water/Earth/Metal/Fire/Sky Sectors June 15th - 23rd
By the next week, she's been asked to help mediate quite of the disagreements amongst the merchants, earning a small stipend from each party for every argument that actually ends. In some cases, she's been offered wares in exhange for her help. Enough for her new home to be modestly furnished in the more important rooms. Not as opulent as her apartment on Coruscant or even her family's home on Naboo, but enough for herself and Anakin. And possibly Luke, if he wants.
When she's not out helping with the disputes, she's still in the library. And helping around the Midnight Hotel. On rare occasions, she can be found in the back garden of her new home, talking to her "pets" and smiling gently.
Sky Sector June 24th - 30th
She does much the same as she always does, trying to make sure that she is visible to those who want to see her, but she doesn't shy from anyone who approaches her. Her time in the library is traded for time walking the college grounds and the gardens. But she is still reading and writing furiously.

Near the hotel
He couldn't stop himself from watching the young woman he now saw. From a distance, she looked a but like Leia though it was more obvious she was a stranger he got closer to her. He'd never seen her before, but the feeling of something familiar wouldn't leave him be. He hoped he wasn't about to get told off for staring.
"Sorry...I didn't mean to stare." He said. "You just...you remind me a bit of someone I know."
no subject
Except, she can tell she's being stared at. After so long in the public eye and being an universally thought-of beautiful woman, she knows that feeling. Slowly, she lets a hand slip into the basket with her weapon and turns. (Even in the Sky Sector, shady things have been known to happen.) Her dark eyes fall on someone she's never seen before and she gives him a neutral look. The line? She's heard it before, a million and one times.
"Is that so? And just whom do I remind you of?"
no subject
"My wife isn't here, but you might have seen her brother around...his name's Luke Skywalker. Leia's my wife. I don't know, I just can't put my finger on it. I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong impression, though. I swear I'm not trying anything."

Forward-dated to around the middle of the month :v
He'd been thinking about the possibility of checking out of the Hotel and moving in here - in some ways he supposed it was ironic to be possibly be moving in with his parents now (ignoring their relative ages). But on the other hand, if things hadn't happened as they had, he might have lived on the homestead his whole life.
Hopefully not, but it could've been a possibility.

She reaches over and pets the other as it continues to eat, finding the presence of the animals comforting in this strange world. Aside from Anakin and Luke, they're the only things she really feels like she can be around for long periods of time before looking for motives that she's not sure are there. To become so cynical isn't like her at all, but so many things lately have put her on her guard, what with the "death" of an important person in the community and the subsequent cover up.
The commotion between Kylo Ren and others from his own time hasn't helped her much, but she wasn't surprised to hear about it either. It had made her decision to move from the hotel easier, however. Now, if she could just get Luke...
"Have you given any thought to my offer? There's a room set up already. If you're interested, that is."
no subject
"I can see they'd be useful for meat," he said and tried not to smile, again, because the shape of them... well, they had more obvious meat on them than even bantha did. "They're kind of cute."
It may not be Naboo, but he was still getting some familiarity with something from his mother's homeworld, and he was grateful for that. Glancing up when Padmé brought up the very offer he'd been thinking about himself, Luke bit his lip.
"Been thinking about it. A lot," he said slowly and nodded. Felt a bit of pleased warmth at the thought of there already being a room set up, but... "Are you sure you want that, though? I mean, the two of you haven't had much chance to live alone until now, have you?"
He didn't want to intrude on that.

June 6th - tick fun
The odd sight of Shaak right here, very far from Naboo, had him pausing by the edge of a property overlooking a very pleasant-looking, but otherwise unremarkable house. The house looked like it belonged in the Sky Sector, the Shaak... not so much.
That was when he caught sight of her, standing by one of the Shaak. And suddenly it wasn't important anymore that he had decided to pretend she didn't exist. He entered the yard with his usual disrespect for proper manners, and demanded, "how did you bring them here?!"
no subject
She had nothing to say to him, honestly, and was focused more on her work.
However, today, she has just managed to get both animals into the yard, after dragging them across town with a flimsy rope lead. She's hot, sweaty, and covered in just a little dirt. But she's happy. At the sound of her grandson's voice, she moves to stand between him and the docile animals as they startle.
Her smile falls and her eyes narrow in the face of his own hostility. "Hello, Kylo Ren. How nice of you to drop by, but I'm not accepting guests. Leave my yard, if you'd be so kind."
no subject
The goading had slipped out before he could stop himself, and Kylo winced slightly when he realized that was not the best way to go about getting information. Or being on decent terms with his grandmother at all. He might have chosen to reject her as family, but making an outright enemy of her was, well, he didn't like that thought either.
"I'm not going to hurt them," he amended, "I don't know what you think of me, but pointless animal cruelty isn't on the list of my crimes."

Sky Sector June 6th
Poe found himself wandering around the sky sector and checking on the available houses. That was when he spotted the woman and couldn't help but to smile after recognizing the Shaak she had with her.
"I didn't think I'd get to see Naboo's animals here." He said as a greeting, trying to make his presence known without startling her. "They can be a bit of a handful, do you need any help?"
no subject
"I didn't think they'd show up either, but they were just grazing outside of town as if this were the fields outside of Theed. I couldn't just leave them there, so I'm taking them to my home." She eyed the young man, recognizing him faintly from the hotel.
"I've seen you before, but I didn't catch your name. You were at the hotel when Kylo Ren and that young woman got into their fight, weren't you?"
no subject
Poe's smile grew upon seeing the nudge, it looked like she had everything under control after all. The smile faded slightly when she mentioned the Hotel. Poe still felt bad for all the trouble that the fight caused, even if he had nothing to do with it directly.
"I walked in at the worse possible moment but I had terrible timing all my life." There was that one time when he got out of hyperspace and ended right in front a First Order staging point and a dozen of TIE Fighter. Funny times.
"I'm helping with the repairs now, my name is Poe Dameron ma'am. I hope you were not injured in the scuffle?"

diplomacy; earth sector
Once they'd moved off, he raised his voice a bit to address her.
"You know," he offered conversationally, "it's usually faster just to bribe them."
no subject
"Be that as it may, but bribery doesn't actually resolve anything. And it makes one side resent the other more. This way, at least, they've both had to concede something and I've established myself as a voice of reason among the Foreigners and someone they can trust to be calm and fair."

around their house
Leaping onto the back of one he attempted to balance on top of the large animal, which was not too happy about this and started to prance around to get him off.
"Hey, Padme!" He called out towards the house hoping she would hear him. "I think we could make this a new sport. What do you think?"
There is a good chance she will kill him for this, but the expression on her face might be worth it.
no subject
She heads to the side yard, a little anxious to know what he's doing now. When she gets to the door, she can see one of the pair of Shaak grazing on the corner of their new property, but the other is out of sight. And so is her husband. With an inward groan, she heads towards the back and, sure enough, there he is. With the other Shaak.
"I think that you're going to fall again because they don't like that. And I might just leave you laying on the ground this time." She sniffs disdainfully, but the corners of her mouth tilt up into a smile all the same.

Water | June 8th
"Alright mon dis be da last time I be tellin' ya dis! See dis fish? Maybe I don't know what it be but it be a damn three footer! Dis single fish could feed a family. Dat be worth fifty juulan alone! Now I be havin' three more in dis basket da same size. Ain't no way I'm sellin' ya da whole thing for anythin' less den one hundred fifty juulan! Dat ain't even be countin' da other fish in dere!"
There was only one problem with his haggling style. Still being new to the turtle he hadn't quite worked out the economy yet. He just guessed on the prices. However Kevas dug his feet in the ground and he wasn't about to budge. The troll stared daggers at the merchant who stared right back at him with their arms crossed.

Calmly, Padmé approached a fishmonger that she knew had had dealings with Obi-Wan Kenobi when he was still here and asked for his help in the situation. After getting his apprentice to watch the stall, the man agreed and they approached the fracas.
"Excuse me, sir. Perhaps we can help you. My friend here, Master Hua, has been working in the Water Sector as a fishmonger for many years. Perhaps you'd let him take a look at your catch and he could help you get a fair price for your wares?"

Sky, early June, shaak
Because what in the world are those.
Instantly distracted, Raine follows the strange animals to find Padmé shepherding them. "What are these?" she inquires, eyes wide, without so much as a proper greeting. She would guess herbivorous, but that's about it without closer study.
no subject
"These are called Shaak. They're herbivores from my home planet." Don't judge. "I found them outside the city and decided to bring them to the new house that Anakin and I are moving into. If I leave them outside, they'll get eaten by other animals."
She is not blushing because no one can ever prove that. "And I find that I miss having them around. It's a welcome discovery."

sky sector - library, backdated~ june 7th
She's browsing through rows and rows of prints and books, and it's then in passing by Padmé's table that she accidentally brushes some of the paperwork with her elbow and sends a pile careening to the floor.
"...Oh!" She's quick to pick them up, hopefully not getting them out of order in the process, giving the young brunette woman a sheepish and apologetic look as she does. "I swear, I didn't touch them..."
no subject
It's then that she notices the girl and she lets out a soft chuckle. "Don't worry about it. They're just papers."

The animals in the garden caught her eye, and she wandered in to examine them more closely.
no subject
It doesn't take much for her to notice the way that they seem to move away from the fencing at one side and she gets up from her table to calm them, looking around for what it is that's causing this.
"Hello? Is someone there?"
