Won't you follow me into the jungle
Characters: Pepper Potts, Yami no Bakura, Gene Khan and you!
Date: Throughout August
Location: Keeliai
Situation: Pepper is working on the Police Force, running into a Thief King, and getting ready for cast-off!
Warnings/Rating: None yet, will add as needed
A. Sky Sector | Backdated to late July | Thief King Bakura
Pepper is nothing if not curious about Bakura's split to his older self, but she's also a little worried about how volatile he might be. As anticipated, the Thief King isn't particularly difficult to find. She'd know that red coat anywhere. Her ka is hovering invisibly at the edge of her senses, wary. While Pepper has her deck and Duelist gauntlet in her bag, she's really hoping that they won't come anywhere near to being used.
"I hear you beat yourself up," she says by way of introduction, trying for a smile.
B. Jade Dojo | Early August | Bakura
Meeting the Thief King had been interesting, to put it mildly. It really was remarkable, getting some idea of what Bakura had been like three millennia ago. Perhaps a little unnerving, too. And although Bakura had refused to answer whether he was okay or not after their altercation (and subsequent loss of the Ring and the way his ghosts behaved), Pepper can't help but continue to wonder about his state of mind. That, and she's just curious about the Thief King in general; questions were her specialty, after all.
C. Hatal | August 1-16 | Open
Being anchored for as long as they have has been pretty awesome, in some ways. Pepper was starting to get used to what Hatal was like, learning it's streets and spending her fair share of time oohing and aahing and not doing as much shopping as the business owners probably would have hoped. Once they learn that Tu Vishan is both awake and leaving soon, Pepper makes the most of their remaining time and when she isn't busy (which isn't all that often, actually) she's taking in the last of the sights.
D. Around Keeliai | Open
Although Pepper was expecting to have some difficulties with the new government and the police force, she's really not enjoying having to deal with it. Still, she was and is central to both efforts going forward. She just has to buckle down and deal with the protests devolving into violence and the various other troubles the same way she always does: with a fierce smile and a ton of determination.
She can be found all over the city, sometimes alone and sometimes on patrol with other police force members, usually without the armor. At least a few nights a week Pepper gets in the armor and keeps an eye on Keeliai from above. Once they figure out that the turtle is about to leave Tavimbi, Pepper can also be found helping with preparations for casting off - removing anchors, shoring up structures, and so on. General, she's all positivity, but sometimes when Pepper is alone she looks a little tired or distracted.

Still, at least he can try and fake it as best he can. And they always go out in pairs, so should the worst happen, they can back one another up. It's while he's on patrol with Pepper that the sounds of another fight start to bubble up from some point in the city, and he lets out a groan in response.
"Are they ever gonna quit with this? Just one day. One day without a riot. Is that too much to ask for?"

She's all for keeping the peace, but Chat is right. This is more than a little frustrating.
"It can't last forever," Pepper insists. "At least most of the time it's just a stupid squabble. C'mon, let's make sure it doesn't turn into anything ugly," she continues, and heads towards the source of the noise. "I've got the talking part covered."

He knew it would happen, that any sort of change would have a force to oppose it, but this...this is awful. He's afraid innocent people will get dragged into the crossfire, or worse still, that it'll eventually hit a boiling point and something much, much worse will happen. He heads off after her, exhaling.
"I hope you've got your charming set to fifty. I have a bad feeling we'll need it."
no subject
Hope and optimism are good; she also just can't foresee this perpetuating for long. Something would have to give, in one direction or the other. Preferably with the least amount of violence as possible.
"I have charming up to bat and intimidating on deck, followed by distracting and surprising," she informs Chat. "It'll be okay."
The protests are usually around the Court of Public Opinion, but this scuffle is only a street or two over - small, but significant, since it's in the middle of a busy street with lots of shops. Disruptive, to say the least, and it could expand if not halted quickly.

Hopefully not too much, though. He'd rather this end as peacefully as possible, with as few bystanders getting hurt as they can get away with.
"Great! With that medley of adjectives, along with my charisma and natural catlike adorableness, we should have his in the bag. Or me in the bag, though that would probably be uncomfortable."
He pauses on the outskirts of the trouble, plucking the baton from his back, keeping it compressed for now. It would make a good shield if he needed it, but he'd rather not make it look like he was bringing a weapon to them from the get go. Hopefully they could resolve this peacefully.
"Well~ I've seen worse."
Sorry for the slow ;~;
"Why don't we keep the Solo in the back pocket for now," she says with a grim sort of smile.
The crowd is rowdy, and there's some exchange of blows going on, like a firecracker just waiting to go off.
"Let's keep it that way, yeah? Hey! Hello," she calls as they approach, holding her palms up. "I'm going to need everyone to stop what you're doing and put your hands up, please. Not here to arrest you, just need you to disperse."
Predictably, after not much of a pause in the fighting, it picks up again with possibly even more vigor, and some of it is directed at Pepper and Chat. "Well, now I'm going to have to start arresting you," she informs them, and snaps the faceplate shut as she wades into the small crowd, pulling people apart and flying them to either end of the street.
GOD HOW CAN I EVEN FORGIVE YOU GOD
He casually dodges a punch aimed at his face, glad for the cat reflexes his Miraculous afforded him. This was going to get...tricky. He exhales loudly, flocking his baton around in a tight circle, a transparent black shield forming in the action. He keeps twirling it as rioters bounce off it, carefully picking up the fallen to move them aside.
"Come on, people, it doesn't have to be like this. We can all get along.Just like the big purple dinosaur says we can."
I KNEEL BEFORE YOU IN SUPPLICATION PLZ TO BE FORGEEV
"Don't think they know that reference," she calls, amused, over the crowd. Pepper surrounds a half dozen of them with a force field and moves them out of the way, people who were more likely to get trampled than exacerbate the fighting. "One big happy family. Right. Well, it's totally a goal."
Pepper keeps an eye on Chat as they sort through the protesters/rioters, but he seems to be doing just fine on his own. "That shield come with the outfit?" she wants to know, nonchalant despite having a large rock thrown at her head. She just plucks her attacked off the street, slaps a pair of cuffs on them, and moves onto the next person.
OKAY I GUESS SO SEEN AS IT'S YOU
"You know, that might be for the best. That thing could give a person nightmares," he fake shudders, before nodding, putting a friendly arm around a guy who was trying to punch him in the face. "See? We all want the same thing really. Well...except maybe less of the destruction and violence on our part but you get it, right? You so get it."
He looks at the shield and grins, nodding.
"Sure does. It also double up as a great way to slow you down if you're dropping from a height," he loves his baton okay, it does everything. "Though the shield part os handy in situations like this."
He handcuffs his own new 'buddy' carefully putting him to one side.
MANY THANKS O MERCIFUL ONE
"Multipurpose! Totally clever," she compliments. "What's the tallest thing you've ever dropped off?" Or were thrown, as the case might be. She's aware being a superhero is not all fun and games.
The crowd is starting to disperse as the main aggravations have been handcuffed by now, but there's still some kedan willing to hurl both rudimentary weapons and themselves at Pepper and Chat.
MY MOST GRACIOUS WELCOMES
There's no other way to think that NORMAL people would make that show. It's just not feasible. He turns to grab another failing rioter, giving them a frown.
"Come on, think of your life, think of your choices," he turns to flash Pepper a grin. "Well, technically the Eiffel Tower, but that was little too high for my baton to handle. I had to rely on good old fashioned puur-kour for that job."
no subject
"Wow, that must have gone over well with the tourist department in Paris," Pepper teases, grabbing one rioter in a headlock while she pulled a second off of him. "Maybe you should add a parachute to the outfit if that's a regular thing."

Also they stop people being infected by demonic butterflies. The Mayor kind of has to support that. Though he knows the Mayor's good will towards them can get rather... stretched at times.
He handcuffs another rioter, rolling away from the punch of another.
"Sadly, this suit is all magical. There's a whole transformation thing with it. If I wanted to have any extras I'd have to lug them around as a civilian and that would make me pretty obvious."
Like he isn't obvious already.

Having to be high school students made construction projects a bit of a no-go, but the three of them did try to avoid breaking too much. She's not looking forward to the destruction they'll face when they return home.
"Ah, yeah. Tony made a backpack version of his suit so he could bring it to school, but I can see how that's not super doable for everyone." It required anti-grav tech, for one thing.
By now, the rioters have pretty much figured out that they're beaten, and those that aren't handcuffed, tied up, or groaning on the ground in a ball have fled. "Well, that wasn't so bad," she assesses.

He beams, waggling his free hand with his glowing ring on it.
"Makes me glad mine is super portable. At least I get the basics wherever I go."
So long as he can convince Plagg to transform him in the first place. That's usually the tricky part. He usually has to bribe him to do anything constructive. Cats, man. He watches the stragglers head off, putting his hands on his hips.
"Yeah, true. Though it's probably far from over. Things are reaching a boiling point."
