Location: Raine and Sheena's apartment (Earth Sector)
Situation: A chance meeting

Tony hadn't planned to visit Raine today, but her place happens to be on the way home from his errands, and he thought he might stop by to share the progress he's made on Solomon's spell. No skin off his back if she's busy or out, but if she's available it'll be nice to chat for a bit and catch up. (And maybe it's a good idea to see how she's holding up after Solomon's disappearance.)

He walks up to the door and knocks.

Hearing the knock at the door, Sheena looks in its direction, her brows knitting together. She's not expecting anyone today, and Raine hadn't said anything about someone stopping by before she left. Curious, and just slightly on guard, the ninja opens the door, her gaze questioning despite the nagging notion that she recognizes him from somewhere.

"Yes?"

"Oh." Not who he was expecting. Tony looks confused. "Sheena? Are you— do you live here?"

Tony didn't know Raine had gotten a new roommate. Maybe she's just visiting?

Her eyes narrow suspiciously. How had he known her name? Then it hits her. The face and voice are younger, but...

"Tony?" She blinks and shaking her head, steps back and gestures him to come in. "Yeah, I've lived here for a while. Come on in."

"Yeah." He looks briefly even more confused, and then, "...Right. I lost the beard." (And a couple years.) He grins. "Still not sure it's my style."

Sheena isn't who he was looking for, but it would be rude to say so, and he's not in a huge hurry, so he accepts the invitation and steps inside. "I had no idea you lived with Raine. How'd you guys meet?"

Yeah, she hadn't seen his younger self before, and since he had known her name, she had known it wasn't one of those "two Tonys at the same time" thing. "Yeah, you did," she chuckles. "But I can honestly say it suits you." Okay, so she had liked the beard.

Aaaanyway, back to his visit. Closing the door, she smiles. "Yep. Ever since I arrived." She pauses. "Well...I met her back home; we're from the same place." She'll leave out the whole "while trying to kill someone bit".

"Oh, you're from her world!" Tony smiles. "That's... That'll be good for her, I think. Now that Solomon's gone. It helps to have someone familiar around."

Her comment about the beard makes him rub his hand across his smooth face - a reflexive habit he falls into whenever the subject comes up. "And thanks, but I'm trying not to remind people too much of the other 'me's."

"Yes, I am." She sighs and looks thoughtful. "I hope you're right. Something like this can be pretty rough to go through alone." She smiles. "But she has others besides me to help her out," she says with a pointed look at him. Ah, the power of friendship.

Her smile grows just a little impish at his comment. "Well...you might want to change your name and your appearance for that to really work," she says with a chuckle. "But seriously," she continues, gesturing for him to have a seat, "despite that, you're still you. And you should be treated and reacted to as the the person you are now--not as the person who you might become." She sighs.

"Does that make sense?"

Ooh, yikes. Tony winces slightly. He knows she didn't mean 'the person you might become' to sound threatening, but the wording of it reminds him too much of the shade of his future self that Malicant had created. He'd rather all his alternate future selves, real and imaginary, stay firmly in the realm of 'might have been,' not 'might still be.'

Rather than open that can of worms, he chooses to address her other comment instead.

"That's the worst part about this place. Never knowing when the people you care about are going to vanish. If she needs anything... Or if you think she needs anything and she won't ask for it," (it takes one to know one) "let me know, okay?"

Oh, she sees that wince and knows that she hadn't said exactly what she had meant. She had meant that his future is still unknown--even to those who "know" his future self. Or claim to. This Tony still has choices to make in his future and no one can say what he'll decide. Not even Malicant.

Just one of those parallel universe things.

Taking a seat herself, she also ignores that to pay attention to his comments. "Trust me, I know all about that." On the flip side, you never know when someone's going to appear, either. Both have their pluses and minuses in some cases. Nodding at his offer, she says, "I will. How long have you known Raine?"

"More than two years - not including the Dreaming year." Which doesn't really count, since they were all in comas, right? "Almost as long as I've been here. I knew Solomon longer, but I like Raine better." Jokes about Solomon's intolerable personality are strictly off-limits when Raine is around, so he's going to get his mileage out of them when she's not.

"How'd you know her in your universe? Did you know her brother?" Someone else who Raine has lost.

It's always a gamble asking people from the same universe about their histories - they might have been enemies, after all - but since Raine and Sheena like each other enough to live together, Tony figures it's a safe question.

Sheena chuckles. Her relationship with Raine is also kind of odd, timewise. "I've known Raine for a few years myself," she tells him before her smile fade slightly. "I didn't know Solomon too long, though." Still, she can see where Tony's coming from. Solomon does have a very distinct personality.

"Well..." And she chuckles sheepishly. "Would you believe I met her and Genis in battle?" She pauses to let that sink in. "But I didn't join her group until later."

Her smile returns.

"We've been friends since."

Tony grins. Oh, look, there's a shared life experience they can bond over.

"Oh, I believe it. I meet a lot of my friends that way. On the same side, or opposite sides?"

"When we first met? We were on opposite sides. Let me tell you, she can pack a mean wallop with that staff of hers," she laughs. "But things happened, and I joined those she was traveling with because I believed in what they were doing."

She chuckles sheepishly.

"The King and Pope weren't too happy about that." Neither were a few people from her village, but that's a whole other story.

"Yeah, I bet. I'm glad I've never been on the wrong end of it." He's gotten on Raine's bad side a couple times, but luckily they've never been on opposite sides of a fight.

"Wow, a King and a Pope? The most important person I ever pissed off was the director of an international law enforcement and counter-terrorism agency."

"Give it time," she says in a mock serious tone. Laughing, she shakes her head. "Nah. I doubt she'll go after you with it. She's only ever used it like that in battle. Although, she keeps it with her to cast her magic."

And has he truly seen Raine's bad side?

Sheena's eyebrows shoot up. "Um, that wasn't meant to impress you... It's just what happened. Although, it sounds like you basically did the same thing."

"I don't know if Nick Fury outranks a king or a pope – though he acts like he thinks he does. Actually, now that you mention it, I did piss off a king once. But it wasn't really my fault; I thought he was an arms dealer, and he was dressed up in a cat suit." Not a catsuit, a cat suit. Or, technically, an armored catsuit that was also cat themed. T'Challa is really committed to his panther motif. "We're cool now.

"Oh— and there was Doctor Doom. He was the dictator of a crappy little country in Eastern Europe. Do dictators count?"

You know what, Tony? You piss off a lot of people.

Sheena's jaw actually drops. "Why was the king dressed up as a cat?" "Arms dealer" to her just means someone who sells weapons--like the smiths back home. Totally legal. "Does he do that often? And how did you two become 'cool'?"

The ninja looks at him in consternation. "'Doctor Doom'? That doesn't sound like any doctor I'd want to go to," she says. "Then again, I'm not fond of doctors anyway. But seeing that he was a dictator... Which does count, by the way."

She pauses and lets out a friendly chuckle.

"You've been busy."
