Downfallen...Fallen...Falling...
Characters: Valdis and Open (With some Specific Starters)
Date: Month of September
Location: Around Keeliai
Situation: Various
Warnings/Rating: Various
August had seen her mostly recovered from losing Anton, or at least, as recovered as she could be. Her Cultist task force hadn't been successful in taking down the group and she saw that as a bitter failure. The riot had undercut the KPD's reputation with the kedan. They had failed to prevent the attack and they had failed to contain the riot. But Valdis wasn't certain that it was possible to contain such a thing. Out of control emotions, especially those caused by a drug...how could her forces combat that?
Things were changing, perhaps too quickly. The Kedan were scrambling to catch up, they didn't seem to know how to rule themselves and while she couldn't blame them for that, something had to be done and soon. At least Tu Vishan had finally awakened. Wan would have been so happy. Finally, the foreigners hard work had paid off in a way that helped people. Valdis suspected that they would never be properly thanked for defeating Malicant, but at this point, as long as the demon stayed dead, she was certain that things would be ok.
As for her hunt, well, she had more plans to put into action, but she wasn't the only one, of that, she was certain.

Adrien and Marinette | KPD headquarters | CW: None
She looked up at the sound of approaching footsteps.
"Come in," she said before whomever it was had the chance to knock.

So, he wandered in pretty smugly, and gave her a half-wave-half-salute.
"What's up, boss lady? You wanted to see us?"

"I have a request to make of the two of you," she said, gathering the spread papers into a pile and lifting them to tap them into a neat stack. "I need the two of you to to be my eyes and ears on the streets. Something that you can't do in costume."
Her eyes lifted to settle on Chat. "I know that your real identities are secret." Then her gaze shifted to Ladybug, "But not to me."
She set the papers to the side.
"The cultists believe that two costumed people are looking for them, the last thing they'd be on the lookout for is two children."
In theory at least.

But then he remembered people had weirdass powers that could see though every single disguise ever. Solomon saw through it, too. He wondered, briefly, if Solomon was the one who gave him up, but no...that wasn't his style. Besides, he never met Marinette. He never knew her as Ladybug. Hell, even he didn't know who she was until recently.
"Okay. Wait, no. Back up a little," he waves his hands in the air, a little panicked. "How do you know that, and please don't tell me you can see into our souls because that's happening more than I like and I still think it's cheating."
no subject
Only... his reaction was not one of guilt, but of just as much surprise.
...haaaah. What a mess. There's nothing to be done about it now. However she did it, the fact was-- she knew. So all that leaves is what to do now that the cat's out of the bad. "...so you want us to look around and see what we can find." If that was her intention then she had no reason to say anything about who they were. So realistically, their identities should be safe while they're cooperating. "Alright. I'll do it. But in return, I want to know you won't tell anyone else who Chat or I are."
Whether or not Chat Noir wanted to was his decision, but she intended to protect him as well regardless.

She stood up and placed both hands on her desk. "Revealing the secrets of others isn't something I do, especially when it could hurt those people or ruin any advantage I might have over our common enemy."
She closed her eyes and took a breath, looking much calmer when she turned to Adrien.
"I can, in fact, see souls," she replied, "However, you should remember that I turn into a giant hound and your scent is what initially gave you away."
no subject
His tone is quiet, a little defeated. Of course it was. Turtle magic.
"...Though I guess the hound thing was pretty obvious, too."
He turns to Ladybug, brow furrowed, watching her in concern. He knows that for her, her identity is very important. She's the one that made the rule between them, after all, and the one who chose to break it. He always differed to her on things like this. She deserved that much.
"We'd appreciate that. It's not just out of vanity or anything. But there's someone back home who's very dangerous. If he ever came here, knew who we were- knew who we cared about to pinpoint to try and get us....it's not something we want to inflict on anyone."
It would be hard enough to deal with Akumas in a population full of people with actual powers from the start. Even worse when it came to people they actually cared about. People who would get hurt in Papillon's hunt for their Mircualouses.
"...Okay, I'll do it. Ladybug's terms," a pause, then to lighten the mood: "Also doughnuts. Those nice ones, with the sprinkles."
no subject
But then Chat is talking about doughnuts and she pauses to look at him and roll her eyes.

"All of us have someone we fear back on our homeworlds, so I do understand the need for secrecy. But I would hope that you know by now, that should this person turn up, they wouldn't get very far."
She didn't acknowledge Marinette's thanks with anything more than a soft smile before sitting back down.
"I need you two to do some plainsclothes recon. No suits, no fancy maneuvers, just hit the streets and listen. Can you do that?"
no subject
Papillon showing up here is, quite frankly, his worst nightmare. So long as Ladybug is around the purify the akuma, they could at least have some kind of handle on the situation; but there are too many people here who could become legitimate weapons in his hands. What happens to a person if they already HAVE powers when they get akumatised? Not something he'd like to find out.
"Sure. We can do that. No suits, no fancy manoeuvres," he raises a hand solemnly. "Cat's honour."
