[OPEN] Sink in the river the lessons I've learned (April Catch-All)

Characters: Zelos Wilder, Kratos Aurion, AND YOU
Date: First thread with Kratos is within the first few days of April; after that, all through the month
Location: All over and outside Keeliai
Situation: Zelos has finally finished that pesky transformation and will actually be around for stuff now!
Warnings/Rating: Will be in comment headers as they apply.

A; SOMEWHERE OUTSIDE KEELIAI; APRIL 2ND ISH; CLOSED TO KRATOS

[It's been less than a month since Zelos went mute, and Kratos's mana training regimes went up a notch the instant it happened. It's probably been less than half a month, honestly, but ask Zelos if he cares. Because he doesn't. He's been cranky and surly most of the time. His only saving grace is that at least he hasn't been uncooperative.

He's better at fighting blind now, too. He slowly started figuring out the telepathy a few days before, subtly enough he didn't even realise what he was doing at first. He doesn't believe he's figured out sensing mana -- and he hasn't -- but he can predict where Kratos is roughly 80% of the time, and preempt defending against his attacks.

It's a chilly, drizzly morning in early April when Zelos, standing still with a hand up after casting guardian for the umpteenth time, suddenly stops. He can tell it's chilly. His skin's prickling against it. No. No -- ]

B; KEELIAI MARKETPLACE; MID-APRIL; OPEN

[Zelos spends quite a bit of time this month just wandering around the sectors, enjoying his newfound freedom and -- best of all -- not being recognised. Keeliai's a lot like Sylvarant in that respect. He's not engaging in his usual pastime, since the kedan have made it quite clear how they feel about a romantic rendezvous with Foreigners; but you can still sometimes catch him admiring someone appreciatively and occasionally getting slapped for the trouble.

Once, he gets into an argument with a shopkeeper in the middle of the street.]

Look, it's obviously part of a pair. See? They match! You're not seriously going to accuse me of planning that, are you?

C; MIDNIGHT HOTEL; ALL OF APRIL; OPEN

[Friday and Saturday nights, Zelos works in the bar on the main level of the Midnight Hotel. He's had enough practice now that he's getting quite impressive, even with the Hotel's strict policy against alcohol. He usually has his long red hair braided over his shoulder and will happily chat anyone up, especially young pretty customers of the female persuasion. But really anyone. He just likes talking.]

[Zelos may not be recognizable as the Chosen here in Keeliai, but he still sticks out in his own way. The red hair probably helps, and most of the Foreigners are at least passably familiar with each other.

The argument is what catches her attention first, and when it's Zelos on one side of it, she's immediately intrigued.

Accusing people is usually my job, [Pepper says, by way of introducing herself into the conversation, smiling at the shopkeeper. A decent chunk of Keeliai knows she works for the KPD, at least.] But I'm off duty. Something wrong?

[Pepper blinks at Zelos, and then glances from him to the shopkeeper, who appears extremely irritated and defensive. She slides out from under Zelos' hands and sidesteps so she's between them again.]

I'm not technically on duty, [Pepper repeats, hands on her hips, and then turns to the shopkeeper.] So I'm not gonna charge or arrest anything, okay? I think we can agree you didn't make it, but you probably didn't take it, either. Did someone else sell it to you?

[The kedan gives her a narrow look, arms folded, and says nothing.]

Yeah, I figured. Okay. Here's how I think this should go. Zelos, you apologize for yelling at this nice shopkeeper just trying to make a living. [To said shopkeeper:] And you give Zelos his glove at a bit of a discount, or I'll come back when I am on duty and confiscate it as evidence. You still get paid, and you don't have to deal with any other trouble.
