Do You Walk in the Shadow of Men...
Characters: Valdis and open
Date: The Month of May
Location: Throughout Keeliai
Situation: Various
Warnings/Rating: In Headers
Moving out of the hotel didn’t take long. Valdis hired a few kedan to help her move her things to the small house near the former palace gardens. It was a comfortable enough space, moreso because Wan had built it. She wasn’t entirely certain why she had waited so long to move here, but perhaps she had just needed time to let go of Anton. The house needed a bit of work after having sat empty for so long, but not much and nothing she wasn’t willing to do. Valdis was capable of creating things, not just destroying them.
The KPD hasn’t let up on patrols and she’s renewed the watches on the water sources. She now had thirty-seven officers and the support of the Justice Guild, a far cry from where she had started almost a year ago. The addition of four Kirin to the KPD resources had been a bright spot, but now Valdis had to find a caretaker for them. She hoped that the four mounts could help reduce response times to crisis as well as aid in crowd control should something arise. Allying with the Guild of Justice and Arbitration had been a wise move as it seemed to calm things down a bit and give both parties a more stabilizing structure. Now she could hunt...

They had made a mistake and switched addresses on the two women's orders, but refused to correct it on just Sheena's say-so.
So, she had refused her delivery and accompanied the drivers to Valdis' home in order to make things right. Spotting the woman, Sheena waved.
"Excuse me, but are you waiting on some chairs?" she asked, hoping Valdis would describe them sight unseen to prove that they were hers.
no subject
Though why Raine's friend was here with said chairs seemed incredibly odd.
no subject
Which made this whole thing even odder.

"Gentlemen," Valdis replied, giving them her most dazzling smile, "You would question the owner of a prominent business over her order. Do you think she wouldn't know what she purchased?"
The kedan looked stunned for a moment and then looked away, one of them grumbled to the driver and then went around the back to open the wagon and take out the chairs.
"Still need you to confirm." the driver said, though with less confidence than he had probably had before.
no subject
Still, she couldn't help rolling her eyes and sighing in relief before turning back to Valdis.
"Thanks. I appreciate it." As the men took out the chairs, she looked at the other woman quizzically. "How did you know who I was?" she asked, a little unsure that the term "prominent" applied to her in any way.
no subject
"I'm the chief of police," she answered, "I make it a priority to know all the Foreigners."
no subject
"You are? And you do?" Sheena shakes her head. "You must be awfully busy because of recent events," she says, her tone serious and maybe just a little angry.
no subject
She tipped her head at the feeling of the woman's anger.
"And yes, we are very busy with the aftermath of the Cultist attack, but from what I understand, you've been busy helping repair the damage, for which I am very grateful."
no subject
And Valdis gets a slight blush.
"Y-Yeah. You're welcome." She looked in the direction of the greenhouses. "It's slow-going because Gnome's never encountered anything like Dust before, and wants to be extra careful. If it was a poison he was familiar with, he'd have it done in no time. This will take several weeks." She turns back, the fear in her eyes quickly disappearing.
"Besides, I can only keep him here for a short amount of time, and if he weakens...he could be affected." And the last thing they needed was a giant rodent with a shovel running amok.
no subject
Valdis regarding the woman with slight curiosity.
"Gnome?" She repeated. So he was like a duel monster then, an entity that could be summoned at will, "You'll have to extend my thanks to him as well."
no subject
Sheena nodded. "Gnome," she repeated before realizing. "Sorry. He's the Summon Spirit of Earth back on my world. He can take on ay appearance he wants, but he chooses to be a giant rodent with a propeller bow holding a shovel--just in case you get any reports about a weird creature around the greenhouses." She paused.
"Actually, would you like to thank him yourself?"
no subject
"Um," Valdis replied, slightly taken aback, "Sure?"
She wasn't exactly used to the idea of talking with a summoned creature.
no subject
But that's ancient history as far as Sheena's concerned.
The ninja waited patiently for Valdis' answer, giving her an encouraging smile in light of her surprise. "It's okay. He won't hurt you. He may annoy you a little, but not hurt you." And speaking one word, "Gnome!" the Summon appeared--actually not too much taller than the two women--with a "Yo, what's up?"
"This lady would like to speak to you," Sheena said, nodding the "go ahead" in Valdis' direction.
no subject
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Gnome," Valdis said, "Thank you for all your hard work in purifying the soil."
no subject
And of course, Gnome didn't let her down.
"Yeah. Nice to meet you, too." Well, at least he was being polite. "And it wouldn't be so hard if that stuff wasn't so strange! Bleh!"
And Sheena would just facepalm right now.
