Do You Walk in the Shadow of Men...
Characters: Valdis and open
Date: The Month of May
Location: Throughout Keeliai
Situation: Various
Warnings/Rating: In Headers
Moving out of the hotel didn’t take long. Valdis hired a few kedan to help her move her things to the small house near the former palace gardens. It was a comfortable enough space, moreso because Wan had built it. She wasn’t entirely certain why she had waited so long to move here, but perhaps she had just needed time to let go of Anton. The house needed a bit of work after having sat empty for so long, but not much and nothing she wasn’t willing to do. Valdis was capable of creating things, not just destroying them.
The KPD hasn’t let up on patrols and she’s renewed the watches on the water sources. She now had thirty-seven officers and the support of the Justice Guild, a far cry from where she had started almost a year ago. The addition of four Kirin to the KPD resources had been a bright spot, but now Valdis had to find a caretaker for them. She hoped that the four mounts could help reduce response times to crisis as well as aid in crowd control should something arise. Allying with the Guild of Justice and Arbitration had been a wise move as it seemed to calm things down a bit and give both parties a more stabilizing structure. Now she could hunt...

"That was stupid," look, not even a hello, his belt-tail flicks in his irritation. "I mean, what was even the point of that? Just to try to make you look bad?"
no subject
"You don't reach my position without making a few enemies, Chat."
But she did appreciate the anger on her behalf, it did soothe her ruffled feathers a bit.
no subject
"So? That doesn't give anyone the right to go on the network and spread lies. Like...like they were deliberately trying to set people on you. What do they think they would have achieved with that? Putting you out of commission? It wouldn't have made the city any safer. It would've made everything a hundred times worse."
no subject
"Chat, they weren't wrong," She says softly, "I knew about the potential for an attack on the water. I had two cultists in my grasp and I let them go. In addition, my sword is dangerous for anyone else to handle. So those weren't lies, they just weren't the whole truth..."
Chat was right though, whoever had done it had wanted to damage her reputation, perhaps even the reputation of the KPD and if the kedan didn't trust the KPD, then the cultists could gain the upper hand.
no subject
"So what if they weren't lies. It wasn't like you would have actually gone out of your way to hurt anyone, which is what...whoever this is was clearly aiming for. It was an attempt to stir things up, when everything is already bad enough."
He exhales, running a hand through his hair.
"You know, they wouldn't even give me proof when I asked them. Said they had nothing. They just did it to harm you. This. And I don't know why."
no subject
You sweet, innocent boy. Attacking the KPD in such a manner could definitely cause that. She had tried to sabotage the Snakes more than once, and she had sabotaged countless others in her lifetimes. It wasn't hard for her to imagine the reasons.
"I clearly have enemies, but they can't hurt me the way they might others, so this is their tactic. Both myself, and the KPD, will be fine."

Even Papillon WANTED something in his attacks on Paris. No oe did anything just for the hell of it.
"Are you sure?" he looks over and there's genuine concern in his eyes. "If you need to lay low for a while, my place is always open to you. Everyone might know Chat Noir works here, but almost no one knows Adrien works here. It'd be a safe place, if you needed it."
no subject
She was probably more dangerous than her accuser and she would know ahead of time if she was in danger from other sources. Though if one of those sources was the kedan, well, there wasn't much she could do about that.
"I'll keep it mind though," she smiled, "You know, if I have to go on the run."
no subject
He offers her a small smile, a genuine one. At least, for now, a little tenseness slipping out of him.
"Sure. We can get you a fancy hoodie and everything. Real deep cover."
no subject
The joking seems to help the boy chill, so despite certain plans, it can't do much harm.
no subject
He pauses.
"Well. For those who can't cheat and read minds, anyway."
no subject
Souls on the other hand.
no subject
"Close enough. But still, most people can't do that, thankfully....even if some people figured it out by themselves."
no subject
And she didn't need any more problems.
no subject
"Don't worry, Boss Lady. I won't say a word."
no subject
For a brief moment, Valdis considered telling him of her plans, but in the long run, it was better if no one knew.
"Was there anything else?"
no subject
He smiles, giving a little bow. Probably for the best that he's in the dark.
"That's it, just wanted to make sure you were okay."
no subject
"I'm fine, it will take more than a bit of anonymous bullying to get me down."
no subject
With a salute, he heads to the door.
"But if you need me for anything, you know how to get hold of me. Never hesitate to ask."
no subject
The boy is too sweet to be caught up in all this craziness, she would have to do her best to make sure he didn't get hurt...
