[open] I'm just a believer that things will get better

Characters: Ariadne ([personal profile] build) and YOU!!!
Date: random times this week
Location: all over the shell
Situation: a catchall for ariadne is poking around the shell and being nosy
Warnings/Rating: none that I can think of.

Ariadne might still be dead set that this was all a dream, and that a good chunk of the people that inhabited this place were simply projections. But that didn't stop her from exploring as much of the shell that she could.

Earth Sector:
In her time on the shell, Ariadne has slowly grown fond of her "home sector" and because of that, a good chunk of her daily time was spent roaming around all the shops there, casually chatting (well, as much as she could) with the vendors and people that inhabited it. And to any casual bystander, she honestly looked like she was enjoying herself, and for the most part she was.

It was just from time to time, you might catch sight of her looking almost sad as she squinted up to the sky, to try and see if she could perhaps finally bend the dream.

Fire Sector:
Whenever Ariadne found herself wandering over towards the Fire Sector, she made sure to always bring her sketchbook. Simply so she could perch herself at the edge of one of the fountains to sketch whatever might have caught her eye that day, be it: One of the fountains, or buildings or maybe even a random person that seemed to be in the same location as her.

You shouldn't be here:
Ariadne knows that the only way to get any real answers, was to go out and look for those answers herself - she’s always been a go-getter (for the most part). So there she was, attempting to blend into the background, simply hoping that she was going to stay unnoticed for as long as she could, just so she could get all the information (be it eavesdropping or snooping or whatever) that she could before someone finally asked what she was doing and she was going to have to come up with some ridiculous lie yet again.

ooc: basically, I know these are all sort of vague threadstarters, but given that Ariadne tends to snoop and do a lot of random things. I’m cool with whatever might work here, and can basically roll with practically anything (have her creeping like no other or run into someone - whatever) just give me your CR.

let's go third option for bat reasons?

[She was better than most civilians should have been, when it came to blending in with her surroundings. She had a talent for it. Honestly, she had a talent for a great deal of things that Bruce didn't expect from a young girl, and it made him by parts wary and respectful of her simultaneously. Which is why he 'spots' her accidentally, and offers her a bright smile he doesn't feel, hasn't felt since--

No. He's not going to think about what he's lost. Instead,]

Ariadne, what a pleasant surprise, finding you here. I was just on my way home--

[He indicates a little parcel of groceries in his arms.]

How've you been?

[With a sort of congenial cheer,]

They quit, if you can believe it. I think it's all this anti-foreigner nonsense.

[Otherwise known as: playing into people's assumptions.]

[He laughs.]

It's nothing, really. Gotham does prepare a man for all manner of disappointments.

[It's a statement said without bitterness, more charm. As if Bruce Wayne has ever been touched by disappointment in his life, honestly.]

And I do, yes. It's been a tenet of my life, actually.

Because Eponine could use some more girlfriends.

[personal profile] knowsherway 2013-05-15 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Eponine knows what it is like, wanting to find information but needing or wanting to remain unnoticed. So when she spots Ariadne in the process of trying to blend into the background, she recognizes her as someone who she might be able to relate to.

When their paths cross relatively close together, Eponine meets Ariadne's gaze, nods, and greets her. "Hello!"

That is innocuous enough, yes? Because when someone is walking about wishing to not be seen, that could possibly mean that there is a story to be found.

Whether she had been drawing Tazendra -- who was out for an evening run -- or not, she had caught the other woman's attention and she was pausing in her activities. "I perceive you are an artist, then."

"It was something I recall a friend recommending to me," Tazendra said, "when one is living in a city and cannot ride regularly. And the supplies for painting are an expense when one is trying to set up a household." Which was frustrating for her: so many of her hobbies cost money, a fact that she had not considered until having to count every last juulan. And her studies of magic were stalled until she could find something to actually power spells.

"An architect, then." Tazendra only knew about architecture from the time she had to commission repairs after blowing a hole in her residence with magic, but she was used to employing people who knew more about their craft than she did. "Is there much call for your work in the city?"

Re: sorry this took so long

[personal profile] fearlessherosheart 2013-05-26 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"I am. In truth, it has been some time since I have done so previously, and I am without staff or even the advice of my good friends."

Tazendra frowned. "Though even the larger dwellings here need little in the way of staff." Her current lodgings was smaller than the house she had shared when she had lived in the capital, and that had been managed by a single housekeeper. Truthfully, if Tazendra wasn't almost completely ignorant of cooking, she would probably do well enough without anyone: she'd eventually learned something of cleaning when she took up magical experiments.

[personal profile] fearlessherosheart 2013-06-05 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, previously when I lived in a city, my fiends and I had hired a housekeeper to prepare meals and clean. I am not so bad at the latter, but, you see, I have never learned to cook."

Which wouldn't be so bad, but the average Foreigner budget didn't really allow 'living off pub and street vendor food' as a feasible option, which was Tazendra's other habit when she lived in a city or was travelling.

[Traci might have had the tour from Kara the other day, but it didn't make her any less curious to explore now that she more or less has an idea of what's around her. Which is how she ends up in the Fire Sector, taking in everything curiously, even the sight of a girl sketching.

Huh.]

What're you drawing there?

[personal profile] urbanmagic 2013-05-18 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
[Whoa.

She's not much of an artist herself, really, but that catches her attention.]
Based on the fountain, is it? It's already starting to look good at this stage.

no problem <3 I've been slow this week too

[personal profile] urbanmagic 2013-05-26 11:51 am (UTC)(link)
You must draw a lot then-- and I just arrived a few days ago, actually. I'm still getting used to the place.

[She might just settle down beside her then.] I'm Traci.

[personal profile] urbanmagic 2013-06-06 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
... You've definitely got the skills of one.. I usually pictured architects to be older somehow. You don't look that much older than I am.

[Ah, that question.] Still adjusting. The wildlife here is strangely entertaining to look at.

[Since moving to the Fire Sector, Kyle's become less restless. He's used to the fountains by now - they're oddly comforting to look at, and so he too spends most of his time drawing by the light.

Today he's intent on filling up his sketchbook when he glances up and notices Ariadne on a nearby bench, absorbed in her work. He knows another artist when he sees one, so he tucks his own notebook under one arm and comes to investigate.]

Hey, mind if I join you?
imaginate: ([kyle] ow brainfreeze)

[personal profile] imaginate 2013-05-18 12:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. [He sits down, leaving a professional distance between them. She hasn't closed her sketchbook, but that doesn't quite give him the right to peek, either. Flips his open to a blank page.] Barely had time for it at home, but here, there's all the time in the world— [His brow furrows slightly.] all the time in the turtle? That's weird to say out loud.
imaginate: ([ion] no problemo)

oops also slow

[personal profile] imaginate 2013-06-03 10:22 am (UTC)(link)
[He chuckles with her.]

True.

[At the question, he opens his notebook and shows her that he too, has been drawing the buildings.]

Me too - I was actually studying to be an architect.

California. [He names a modest school - honestly, he'd never had the money or the motivation to go anywhere more prestigious.]

FIRE;

[personal profile] candystriped 2013-05-17 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Stocking often enjoyed the warm days at cafes around the Fire Sector, indulging (ironically) in the Parisian standard: food and drink on outdoor patios, watching the city flow by. Today she had a plate of raspberry puff tarts and a cup of tea. Her good mood was evident, making her far less likely to snap at any of the passersby. When she noticed Ariadne and her sketchbook, she found the redhead more interesting than some of the others, the angel making no effort to hide the fact that she was watching her.
candystriped: (SPEAK ✥ i'm talking here so shut up)

no prob!

[personal profile] candystriped 2013-05-26 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
The angel girl raised an eyebrow at the call, wondering what reminded Ariadne of her home. Still, she could appreciate someone with a good artistic talent and in a surprisingly magnanimous move (for her) she gestured that the redhead could join her at the table if she wished.

"You're an artist?"
candystriped: (HOME ✥ this is my castle)

[personal profile] candystriped 2013-06-05 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"You design buildings," Stocking echoed, raising a slender eyebrow. There was a little bit of judgment in that statement, though it didn't seem negative... more perplexed. "What kind?"

The angel girl preened a little at the second remark, her skepticism melting away into a better mien. "Paris has the best sweets," she enthused. "If I had the choice and I didn't have to hang around a slum like Daten City most of the time, I'd stay in Paris permanently."
sophos: (pic#4369132)

fire!

[personal profile] sophos 2013-05-19 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[Annabeth's in fire, whether it's coming back from or going to see Leo, when she spots Ariadne. A closer examination reveals the other girl holding and using a sketchbook, and Annabeth's curiosity is immediately piqued - and assuming, of course, something architectural.]

[She makes her way over, a little slowly and casually so that Ariadne would notice her, should she look up. But, you know, just in case.]
Hey. Am I interrupting?
sophos: (pic#4324822)

no worries!

[personal profile] sophos 2013-05-30 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[Her eyes are immediately drawn over towards the sketch when Ariadne shows it, and she kind of forgets to reply to what the other girl said. Annabeth looks it over with familiarity, very much indeed picking up on details and influence from the sector around them. She's quiet for what's probably an impolite length of time, before she glances back up at Ariadne.]

You like fire for inspiration, huh? I do a lot of sketching in water.
sophos: (pic#4774226)

[personal profile] sophos 2013-06-08 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
[She's a little surprised by the gesture, but it hides well and she accepts the sketchbook with a nod. Annabeth flips through carefully, taking care not to smudge or touch any of the actual sketches. She knows she wouldn't want that of her own work.]

[She picks up on the businesslike approach, but really, Ariadne's good and Annabeth can appreciate that. She gets a little too distracted by the pages and ideas, looking up with a pause after a potentially awkward stretch of silence, though she shows no signs of being aware of it.]
No, it definitely is; there's a lot to be said for the intent behind Fire's layout alone, beyond just the structural development.

[Another pause. She can count on her hand the number of times people have been genuinely interested in her work, beyond those using the blueprints.] Sure. I don't have anything with me now - you could come over sometime, maybe? Or whatever.
