[open] I'm just a believer that things will get better
Characters: Ariadne (
build) and YOU!!!
Date: random times this week
Location: all over the shell
Situation: a catchall for ariadne is poking around the shell and being nosy
Warnings/Rating: none that I can think of.
Ariadne might still be dead set that this was all a dream, and that a good chunk of the people that inhabited this place were simply projections. But that didn't stop her from exploring as much of the shell that she could.
Earth Sector:
Fire Sector:
You shouldn't be here:
ooc: basically, I know these are all sort of vague threadstarters, but given that Ariadne tends to snoop and do a lot of random things. I’m cool with whatever might work here, and can basically roll with practically anything (have her creeping like no other or run into someone - whatever) just give me your CR.

Ariadne might still be dead set that this was all a dream, and that a good chunk of the people that inhabited this place were simply projections. But that didn't stop her from exploring as much of the shell that she could.
Earth Sector:
In her time on the shell, Ariadne has slowly grown fond of her "home sector" and because of that, a good chunk of her daily time was spent roaming around all the shops there, casually chatting (well, as much as she could) with the vendors and people that inhabited it. And to any casual bystander, she honestly looked like she was enjoying herself, and for the most part she was.
It was just from time to time, you might catch sight of her looking almost sad as she squinted up to the sky, to try and see if she could perhaps finally bend the dream.
Fire Sector:
Whenever Ariadne found herself wandering over towards the Fire Sector, she made sure to always bring her sketchbook. Simply so she could perch herself at the edge of one of the fountains to sketch whatever might have caught her eye that day, be it: One of the fountains, or buildings or maybe even a random person that seemed to be in the same location as her.
You shouldn't be here:
Ariadne knows that the only way to get any real answers, was to go out and look for those answers herself - she’s always been a go-getter (for the most part). So there she was, attempting to blend into the background, simply hoping that she was going to stay unnoticed for as long as she could, just so she could get all the information (be it eavesdropping or snooping or whatever) that she could before someone finally asked what she was doing and she was going to have to come up with some ridiculous lie yet again.

let's go third option for bat reasons?
No. He's not going to think about what he's lost. Instead,]
Ariadne, what a pleasant surprise, finding you here. I was just on my way home--
[He indicates a little parcel of groceries in his arms.]
How've you been?
no subject
Bruce. [ she said with a bit of surprise in her tone, as she spun around to offer him a somewhat awkward smile. It's obvious; she really hadn't expected anyone to spot her lurking around like she was, but she wasn't about to run and hide – especially not from Bruce Wayne – not when she was trying to figure this man out herself. ] I’m…good.
[ and at that, her eyes drifted down to his parcel and back up at him, her brow arching faintly in curiosity as she did. ]
You don’t have people to do that for you?
[ which was only meant as a light joke (at least she hoped). Because as much as she like the man, he did have that air about him that said he came from money and she couldn't help but assume he had half the population working for him already here. ]
no subject
They quit, if you can believe it. I think it's all this anti-foreigner nonsense.
[Otherwise known as: playing into people's assumptions.]
no subject
Well, that’s fairly bizarre - especially with you being so willing to help others here.
[ which only had her shrugging, shaking her head at the thoughts. She really was never going to understand half of these projections here. ]
I'm assuming you like being somewhat independent tough?
no subject
It's nothing, really. Gotham does prepare a man for all manner of disappointments.
[It's a statement said without bitterness, more charm. As if Bruce Wayne has ever been touched by disappointment in his life, honestly.]
And I do, yes. It's been a tenet of my life, actually.
Because Eponine could use some more girlfriends.
When their paths cross relatively close together, Eponine meets Ariadne's gaze, nods, and greets her. "Hello!"
That is innocuous enough, yes? Because when someone is walking about wishing to not be seen, that could possibly mean that there is a story to be found.
oh my gosh YES!!! Ariadne needs more girlfriends too
"Hello?" She quietly replied as she gave the other woman (obviously an outsider like her) a brief, nervous smile. "Out for a stroll today?" Silly question, sure – and she knows that, because she is suddenly cringing slightly at how silly that sounded to even here. Of course the other girl was out and about, she wouldn't be there if she wasn't.

"I'm an architect actually." She shrugged, easily admitting the fact as she gave the fountain in question a brief look before turning her attention on the woman. "I tend to find inspiration in whatever I can."
A short pause and she is sighing somewhat contently, adding: "It's a good way to pass the time in a place like this - I've never been much of a runner myself."
no subject
"An architect, then." Tazendra only knew about architecture from the time she had to commission repairs after blowing a hole in her residence with magic, but she was used to employing people who knew more about their craft than she did. "Is there much call for your work in the city?"
sorry this took so long
"And to a degree, yeah, I've been staying fairly busy." She easily admitted with a shrug of her shoulders and a quick glance around their surrounds. “Given the degree of deterioration that seems to be going on here, I've been able to keep myself busy with looking over a handful of structures." This was still fairly enjoyable for her, even if she was stuck in a dream with no way of waking up yet.
"Granted, I'm still not fully sure if the emperor is a fan of the help or not." and she could only assume that there was a clear reason for all of that.
"You said you were setting up a household though?" This was asked with a clear look of interest, as she was always curious as to how the people here were dealing with things.
Re: sorry this took so long
Tazendra frowned. "Though even the larger dwellings here need little in the way of staff." Her current lodgings was smaller than the house she had shared when she had lived in the capital, and that had been managed by a single housekeeper. Truthfully, if Tazendra wasn't almost completely ignorant of cooking, she would probably do well enough without anyone: she'd eventually learned something of cleaning when she took up magical experiments.

Which wouldn't be so bad, but the average Foreigner budget didn't really allow 'living off pub and street vendor food' as a feasible option, which was Tazendra's other habit when she lived in a city or was travelling.
fire sector;
Huh.]
What're you drawing there?
no subject
A building, [ vague answer, sure. which is why she is quick to turn the sketchpad some so she could see the start of what appeared to be a multilevel building with details mimicking that of the fountain around them. ] …well, one with housing on the top and offices or stores on the bottom.
no subject
She's not much of an artist herself, really, but that catches her attention.] Based on the fountain, is it? It's already starting to look good at this stage.
sorry this was slow
Thanks. [ she may think she is pretty damn good at what she does, but when she actually hears a compliment from others, she can't help but feel good about it. ] I tend to find inspiration in some of the oddest of places.
How long have you been here?
no problem <3 I've been slow this week too
[She might just settle down beside her then.] I'm Traci.
no subject
I’m an architect actually. [ which she always sort of hoped was a good explanation as to why she tended to sit and sketch for hours on end. ] So yeah, I suppose you could say that I draw a lot.
[ a long pause and she is letting her smile grow a bit more. ] Well, it’s a pleasure to meet you Traci. I’m Ariadne.
How are you adjusting to this place so far?
no subject
[Ah, that question.] Still adjusting. The wildlife here is strangely entertaining to look at.
fire sector
Today he's intent on filling up his sketchbook when he glances up and notices Ariadne on a nearby bench, absorbed in her work. He knows another artist when he sees one, so he tucks his own notebook under one arm and comes to investigate.]
Hey, mind if I join you?
no subject
Of course not – go right ahead. [ she easily replies as she spots the sketchbook in his arm, suddenly curious as to what might be in there. because she knows the power in a sketchbook - at least to the person filling it. ]
You draw? [ of course he does, but it’s at least a polite way for her to hopefully find out what. ]
no subject
sorry this is slow
What do you tend to draw?
[ not that it was any of her business, but she couldn't help but find herself curious as to what interested him. ]
I've been fascinated with the structures here myself. [ and with that, she is titling her book towards him more, showing him the building she was currently working on. ]
oops also slow
True.
[At the question, he opens his notebook and shows her that he too, has been drawing the buildings.]
Me too - I was actually studying to be an architect.
no subject
Where were you study? [ she asks letting her eyes drift down towards his work as a faint smile curls at the corner of her mouth. ]
no subject
FIRE;
this was so slow. sorry about that
"I hope you don't mind." She called, suddenly realizing that she was being watched as well. "You just reminded me of home." She smiled, looking somewhat apologetic for a brief moment. She isn't exactly the type to just be outright rude, so she was hoping that her presence wasn't going to be much of an issue to the other girl.
no prob!
"You're an artist?"
no subject
And after a moment, Ariadne was sliding into the chair across from her, fiddling with the edge of her sketchpad as she somewhat apologetically admitted. “You sitting here like you were just reminded me of the Cafes back in Paris.”
no subject
The angel girl preened a little at the second remark, her skepticism melting away into a better mien. "Paris has the best sweets," she enthused. "If I had the choice and I didn't have to hang around a slum like Daten City most of the time, I'd stay in Paris permanently."
fire!
[She makes her way over, a little slowly and casually so that Ariadne would notice her, should she look up. But, you know, just in case.] Hey. Am I interrupting?
sorry this took till today
Of course not, [ she said easily as she scooted over slightly for the other girl to sit. ] I was just killing time.
[ which was somewhat the truth. and she has no problem showing annabeth just what she was up to, as she tilts the sketchpad in her direction, showing her the sketch of a building that was unlike any that were here. sure, it's the basics of it now, but given what she knew about annabeth and her understanding of architecture, she could only assume that annabeth would spot the details scattered throughout the drawing that almost mimicked the ones in the buildings of the fire sector. ]
no worries!
You like fire for inspiration, huh? I do a lot of sketching in water.
no subject
It depends on the day. [ she admitted with a sigh, offering her sketchbook over for her to look through. Obviously there wasn’t anything spectacular in it; just a lot of sketches of buildings that seems to have a bit of a business like feel to them. But it was still something that gave a bit of insight to how she was thinking lately. ] If I plan on keeping up with what I’m doing, I need to constantly keep refreshing my ideas. So fire seems to be a good place for that I suppose.
[ she shrugs. Looking back up at Annabeth with a faint smile ] I’d like to see some of your work one day, if you wouldn’t mind?
no subject
[She picks up on the businesslike approach, but really, Ariadne's good and Annabeth can appreciate that. She gets a little too distracted by the pages and ideas, looking up with a pause after a potentially awkward stretch of silence, though she shows no signs of being aware of it.] No, it definitely is; there's a lot to be said for the intent behind Fire's layout alone, beyond just the structural development.
[Another pause. She can count on her hand the number of times people have been genuinely interested in her work, beyond those using the blueprints.] Sure. I don't have anything with me now - you could come over sometime, maybe? Or whatever.
