The dampness against his shirt is surprising but Scott doesn't say anything, content to let Toph cry out her emotions while he holds her close, one hand still on her shoulder while the other lightly strokes her hair.
He hates that she's crying and hates that he can't do anything about it except let her cry. Likely it's all she can do for now, but still. He can't imagine what she's going through, but he'll be a shoulder to cry on or a listening ear whenever she needs it.
He doesn't speak up, not until she pulls away, at which point he gives her a crooked smile.
"We should probably get you home though. I'm sure you'd rather be warm in bed than standing out here."
