Despite Lois finding flying oddly natural--whether due to years with Clark or simply not feeling as enslaved to gravity as others (she slept through certain science classes)--trees present a special challenge all their own. While she learned fairly early on not to crash (much), the fine maneuverings between trees takes a lot more skill.
That said, it's also kind of exciting to be able to climb trees without fear of injury if she should fall.
As a result, about half the time she's in the area she's practicing zipping between and around trees. The other half, she's just climbing high and enjoying doing what her parents used to yell at her for.
