Jack didn't particularly want to be here and even the turtle's calming influence barely took the edge off the unpleasant twisting in the pit of his stomach, a mix of defiance and guilt and dread. Despite what Spock had said ("Were I capable of freely entertaining anger, I would not wish to show any toward you.") he was too attuned to getting backlash -- some deserved, some not -- from others whenever he was held accountable for something.

The familiar area at the crown of the head is still empty when he arrives and he kicks at the ground and then takes a breath. He's learned a little how to focus his thoughts through Bruce's repeated meditation sessions where they'd discovered that what worked best to settle Jack down was to draw. He'd always known that painting frost on windows was calming but he hadn't realized just how well it worked until he'd absently spent some six hours in Bruce's lab space on a particularly large piece on the wall. In particular he discovered he liked creating repetitive and complex shapes that were all vaguely reminiscent of mandalas. It was an enjoyable challenge to coax his naturally random fernfrost into symmetrical shapes.

With that in mind and not knowing how much time he had to kill before the Vulcan's arrival, Jack kneels and spreads ice across a roughly six foot circular radius, starting a vaguely snowflake design, working from the center and outward.
