"Something like that," Annie agrees quietly on the subject of no walls like back there, and only briefly gives Reiner a sharpish look. He could handle it all he wanted to, but Bertolt's reaction hadn't been that bad to her mind. They might as well get right to the fact that their entire existence no longer had meaning.

She gestures for them to hold back in the alleyway they'd walked down. After a moment, she walks out openly into the street. Only one of them needed to risk discovery near their current hideaway when making sure that no one was around to discover them, and she was always the best choice. Only after she feels comfortable does she cross the rest of the way to the tree-suite, unlocking the door and waiting for them to follow up behind her.
