Ah, that smirk. Rex managed a somewhat sheepish smile as he debated whether or not to explain further. Part of the point of visiting Korra was to get to know her better and, likewise, to allow her to know him better, as well. Might as well get the truth out on the table.
"I don't know how to cook...much," he explained with a small shrug, that last word added on at the end just so she wouldn't think he was completely worthless in the kitchen. "Given how things have been around here lately, though, I should probably do something to change that."
When Korra put her foot up to roll back her pants, Rex examined what had once been the wounded area without thinking initially about what he was looking at. Of course a couple of seconds later, it hit him that he was staring at a girl's leg and he began to notice more about it than just a lack of injury. Her skin tone, the curve of her calf... Feeling his cheeks getting a bit warm, he straightened up and forced himself to look at her face again.
"If I didn't have my quick healing ability, I'd probably be knocking at your door any time I got hurt. You, uh... You really did a good job fixing yourself up." He cleared his throat a little, almost glad to press on with a slight shift in subject, if just momentarily. "And no, I don't think I did. After running into you, I found some cloth to keep my mouth and nose covered. Saint Walker also did some energy shielding thing for me later when I ran into him."
