Korra couldn't help but give a confident half smile about food being hard to come by. This was nothing compared tot he rationing that went on for months, and surviving had become a key skill of hers on Tu Vishan. Sharing it with others was just it's own reward.

That and she liked the thought of spending the time to teach Rex.

But that would have to wait. For now, she crossed her arms and revisited the morning that the bombs went off. After a moment she sat on the arm of the couch. Her tone was fairly neutral aside from a hint of resignedness. "I got shot when I was chasing down a kedan that stole my money. But I lost him when he went into a crowd. He probably shapeshifted to look like someone else. So I kept an eye out for someone suspicious."

She sighed before her blue eyes traveled up the sleeve of Rex's jacket, all the way up to his eyes. "And I saw a foreigner that kept looking over his shoulder, like he was keeping an eye out for something. Or someone." Then she gave a small pout as she continued. "I grabbed his shoulder and asked him to give me my money back. Then he pointed something at me. A gun. I didn't know what it was at the time." She shrugged her shoulders, something like that simply didn't exist in her world. "So I kicked it out of his hand and he threw me to the ground, I kicked him as I got up. He had another one and shot me in the leg."

There was more, and she opened her mouth to say it, but she wanted to give Rex a moment to catch up. Sometimes she did go a little fast on the talking, but she also was remember that sudden burning on her leg out of nowhere. The sensation that followed afterwards was one she didn't want to remember, but she wasn't going to withhold it.
