While the suspicion of someone willingly working with Malicant is something that never quite leaves her mind, for the most part Raine's of the opinion that dispersing information can only help right now. Not via the network, of course, but she spends much of the first week of November seeking out people she knows to catch them up to how bad things are, to make sure the vision Wan and Valdis had gets shared out, and to see if anyone has any helpful input at all. She's done about as much as she can within her own head; now it's time to get outside points of view.

When she's not busy doing that, she can mostly be found in the Earth sector, either at her suite, which she hasn't made a significant effort to hide, or in one of the assorted nearby parks, running through artes over and over in an effort to improve her casting time and focus or simply swinging her staff in the most basic of forms.

Iroh noticed. Which is why on the days he doesn't eat out, he makes sure to cook enough for at least two, and have leftovers on hand. Because no one should have to suffer from bad food. (That and he used to cook for a teenage boy as well as himself; so he's used to having extra.)

"How is the practice coming?"

She really, really appreciates that kindness.

"Well enough." Half a laugh. "I'd need years to make much more progress, but even a little will help. And you?"

"Good enough. I've not had much of a chance to get out of practice. It is a good thing to lead an active life."

[ruinsprofessor]

"It is," she agrees. Pauses briefly, and turns her attention fully to him for the moment, rather than her practice. "Hm. What do you think of our situation, Iroh?"

"I think we will be strongest if we work together. at the moment, it feels like all of us know a small amount of the conflict, but not the whole."

Raine nods at that, with a faint grimace. "Trust has been in short supply, and secure ways to share information shorter. I... believe I have a relatively complete picture, if there's something you'd like to know."

"I believe I picked up most of it from your broadcast, unless you left anything out," Iroh said.

[ruinsprofessor]

"I spoke... broadly," she admits. "But if you followed what resulted from that, and if one of the children passed you the vision as well, then you should know what's most important, yes."

"I do. But the biggest unknown is if we'll be able to come together to face this."

[ruinsprofessor]

"That's something I've been wondering as well," Raine says, a little resigned. She's been wondering it for months, honestly, since the nullification if not since the fiasco with Evandau. "As a group, the Foreigners are disorganized and often at odds. However, I believe the situation is dire enough that self-preservation if nothing else will force us to work together."

"I do think we are better able to now than at any time before. There is a unity of purpose when the threat is clear," Iroh commented. "Not even self-preservation, but knowing what we need to do."

He does have a point. "True," she says. "No more arguments over which course is the best one. Simply action that needs to be taken."

"Exactly. And a timeline," Iroh said. "If 'as soon as possible' counts as one."

Malicant's demonstration made it clear that time was of the essence. The more they waited, the more they might lose to cultists, or a second attack.

At that she laughs, short, not entirely cheerful. "It counts, certainly. And should suit even the most impatient among us."

Of which there are far too many. But he's right: there's a definite potential for unity and she's more hopeful about this than she's been in a little while. "Thank you," she adds. He's actually set her mind at ease a little. "If I learn anything new, I'll be sure to let you know."

"Please do," Iroh answered. "I don't mean to interrupt you any more."
