Step one, get Tony back his shard of the stone. Step one half...distract the living hell out of this impostor so the stone would slip from its awareness just long enough for Tony to get it back and do what needed to be done. Between him and Wreath, that should be a piece of cake.
Quietly, to Akito, while the impostor is talking, Gene says, "Get the stone. We'll distract him." Sending Akito to do it is a pretty good idea; the younger teen's been so quiet and inoffensive that he wouldn't be surprised if Malicant's shard had opted to ignore him entirely.
There's always the definite probability that this other Tony has a dampener built into his armor too, so Gene can't count on using the armor to distract him for long. Maybe just for long enough.
The sonic blast has barely impacted Wreath's shield when Gene makes his move. He uses the white ring to create a laser-focused tornado, hopefully enough to lift this impostor and buffet him around, to have him focusing his attention on Gene and Solomon rather than Tony and Akito.
And Gene really hopes Tony's reboot sequence won't take too long.
