"What?" Sonja looked from Valdis to the metalworker and back. Maybe Sonja would have dropped the matter for Anton's sake (she did owe him quite a bit, and this was his property), but to ask her to apologize was frankly ridiculous. The only one being rude, not to mention downright audacious, was this technician. If this was her house, she'd have demanded their resignation on the spot, or called for their immediate termination, were they contracted by a third party.
Obviously Valdis was somehow misinterpreting the facts.
Seeing that she was in-effect outnumbered, however, the correct tactical choice was to retreat. She would not surrender, however. She turned back to the metalworker with a composed, if not haughty expression.
"Thank you for answering my question. That will be all."
She turned around and started walking.
Where are we going? I don't know yet. Are we going back to our room? We just came from there because we were trying to get out and there's nothing to do in there. Right. So. The door. That leads outside. That would be the only logical solution, wouldn't it?
Sonja slightly faltered as she approached the door leading out of the hotel. She seemed to remember Skulduggery saying that there were five doors leading to this one entrance? How did you pick where you ended up?
She made a half-gaze back towards the lobby, but stopped herself, for fear of looking weak after that display, and instead marched through the door.
