Midnight Hotel
Sometimes he slept, other times he was out just exploring. One thing was certain the Demon Knight was restless. Sometimes he would just be walking the halls of the second floor where his room was. As days had passed he had taken to leaving his sword in his room pretty much at all times. His blood stained shirt had been tossed as it was beyond repair so he refused to be without his armor. Being on his own with no purpose was a strange alien concept. People needed money here, but he was not charged to stay. he had a feeling the hunter was behind it, but he couldn't investigate that as he wanted because he didn't want to be on the street either.

So many thoughts went through his mind as he wandered the halls and eventually down the stairs to the lobby. maybe even outside, he was restless and couldn't keep still.

Random Roof
The rain was coming down in the dreary dizzle. Nelo Angelo had found his way up the side of a building he could not identify right off, and perched on the edge of the roof looking up at the sky as rain rolled down his face. It rained sometimes on Mallet Island but not as often as he would have liked. Rain was one of those few things he loved.

The cool drops would do no good for his suit of armor, but he did not care, nor did he care about the gusts of wind picking up. This was as peaceful as he found anything since his arrival. Finally looking down he watched random kedan and others walking by. He didn't even know if he was allowed to be up here. Honestly he did not care. If he could stay here until his armor rusted he would, logically he knew that was stupid though he would leave in time. For now he looked back to the sky, letting his troubled mind drift.

Shopping Area
He bit his lip some, lost in the daze of his own jumbling thoughts as he made his way down the streets. How would he live in a place like this? Why did the hunter try so hard to help him? Why would he not accept that he was not the man The hunter thinks that he is? More so, what would his purpose be? A new start maybe, though that seemed like false hope. The power of Mundus was mighty, despite what Dante says, he expects his master to come. He would never let one of his valued puppets escape, not after such failure. As far as he had known Mundus could even control time. He would think death had finally claimed him, but he has seen hell, been there, and this was too pleasant to be hell.

He stopped before a booth that had jewelry on display, his hand idly reaching up to his neck to find that strange necklace he woke with, his pendant was gone. Lost to time and space, He had lost it in his fight with that Hunter who now tried to take care of him. His red eyes shifted over the jewelry. He had no money, no means to buy anything and its not like that old necklace matters anymore. The thought crossed his mind that it was pointless for him to stand there looking at such gems, so he turned to head off once more.

Just an idle trek to explore the shops, he really had nothing better to do, and it was better than staying in his room letting his worries of his master’s vengeance plague him more than they already were. Maybe seeing how the creatures of this world lived would be enough of a distraction. Yet his mind kept painting the streets filled with blood. The horrors of hell in the busy streets of the city he walked. Reality overlapping with long lived nightmares.

Then a sound caught his attention, a music box playing in one of the shops. It was a simple little harmony, yet it made him squeeze his eyes shut trying to focus as pain started to twist in his mind. He reached out for the nearest wall and clutched his head. Flashes of memories passing so quick he could not tell what they were, all he could focus on was the pain as the music slowly stopped. He did not teleport away this time. He had no where to go that he knew. So once the pain subsided he pushed off the wall ignoring the sounds of the random nearby kedan asking if he was alright and moved on to walk more. He needed to find information to pay off his debt.

"You're skinny enough to be in a humanitarian aid commerical." He rebutted. "It doesn't matter if you don't have any wounds.

Either Mundus was lying to Nelo, or things were really that bad for them. But why hasn't he heard this before? Did Trish not trust Dante enough to tell him what she went through? Some of them were desperate not to fail, for fear of punishment, true, but Nelo aside, all of them were ecstatic to get a chance to kill him.

Either way? Dante thought this couldn't get much worse, and it just did. "The fact that he treated you all like shit doesn't change a damn thing. If this is paradise for you, then he must have done some really fucked up things to you."

"Oh really? So I guess Mundus doesn't ask you to do a lot of heavy lifting, then." The way Vergil said his name with a biting tone reminded him of old times. Some would call it sad that Dante's nostalgic for this of all things, but that's just normal brother behavior. Well, apart from all of the impaling. Hopefully, this will be one of oh-so-many sibling arguments.

"And what if I were to kill Mundus for good?" That wasn't realistically going to happen, but it was worth asserting that he would try. "And don't give me that 'you can't' bullshit. I'm asking about what would happen, not if it's possible."

"Like I said, buddy; You don't belong to me. If you insist on keeping up this little game, that's your choice." God, Dante really hoped nobody he caught wind of this. "Besides, you pointed out my flaws all the time back in the day."

Yep, this was Vergil. A Vergil that thought he was Mundus's slave, but Vergil, nonetheless.

"Maybe not on our own, but there are folks as powerful as us here. If all of us banded together, what would our chances be then?" He tried to reason.

"I'm not all demon, and neither are you." Vergil wouldn't even accept this when he was himself, so Dante wasn't entire sure what he was even doing trying to tell Nelo this now. "We're human, too. So we're bound by their rules, and they outlawed slavery a long time ago. Hell, if someone heard us talking, they'd probably drag me outside by my shirt collar and kick my ass."

That last point was hopefully a bit more understandable for Nelo. Dante was bound by the laws (he hopes) of this place not to treat him like a slave, as well as societal norms.

"It's not laughable to think about it." He begged his brother to be rational, then he got an idea. "Have you heard about the war against Malicant? We all came here to kill something not entirely different than Mundus."

Alayne quickly closed the music box, bringing the inner mechanisms to a halt. She had never thought that a song could bring someone pain, but maybe it had more to do with the pitch? Or perhaps it reminded him of something unpleasant? She set the box down gently and stepped toward him, head cocked to the side.

"I'm sorry. If I had known..." she rested her hands over the chain hanging from her neck, her fingers tracing over the spike at the end, "Is there anything I can do for you?"

Yes, Nelo. That's exactly what the foreigners need; rumors that one of them has a slave. That's not going to cause any problems.

"So you know you're not all demon, but you think you're created?" Is that a bit of cognitive dissonance Dante found? Oh, he's going to latch onto this like the clingy sibling he is. "Why would Mundus create something that's part-human?"

Akito is more prepared for wet weather than he was a few weeks ago. He's managed to save up for a fairly warm rain jacket - warm enough for the weather they've been getting, at least. It makes exploring the city more bearable in addition to making him look more professional during his deliveries. He still sticks to the roofs, as usual, since it's less crowded, with less chance of him getting knocked around by crowds.

There's always the occasional other person hopping around on the rooftops, but they're very few and far between. Enough so that when Akito spots a strange figure on the roof he lands on, he pauses to stare.

Super polite. :)

Nelo, that's literally the instructions for how to start a rumor.

Oh boy, another migraine. Dante might have to start stocking up on aspirin for these little talks, too. He quickly made a mental note to do so while he waited for his brother to regain his composure.

"Do you do this every time one of your master's lies don't make sense?"

Re: Not Nelo, but same look right now.

"Vergil, think about it." He begged one last time. "If I gave up and accepted everything you had to say, I'd have you at my disposal. I know the rules of demons. I don't care about societal norms. And yet, here I am, begging you to drop the act and go free. Why?"

Dante put down the food and stepped just outside the door, as if he was honor-bound to do so. Still, he'd beg as much as he had to. "And why would just talking give you these headaches? I'm trying to help you, not torture you. Come on, can't you at least believe me?"

Yep, this is another resounding failure.

"You know that's not true."

Dante feels as though he's close to a breakthrough, but he's bound by the rules of the hotel not to re-enter the room. If Vergil wants to be alone, all he has to do is slam the door in Dante's face.

Valdis really needed to speak to Dante about all this and the man's apparent belief that he was now Dante's servant was incredibly interesting.

"Probably because Dante is only part demon," She replied, wondering how much she should push the man. She had felt the anger return, but it was clear at this point that there were somehow two separate entities within the man. "And he doesn't really understand or respect the rules of society."

The color of his eyes startled her and she paused in her steps, swallowing awkwardly. Red was not a common color - nor was it one she had encountered before this moment. Yet the color wasn't as disarming as the way his eyes glowed.

"I would hate for you to leave in pain." though ladies shouldn't really escort men they don't know anywhere, "Does anything lessen it?" she smiled a little, hoping to be comforting, "My name is Alayne."

By nature, Aya was pleasant unless given a reason not to be. Nelo Angelo had yet to give her a reason not to be.

"My body is inorganic. I am alive." An important distinction to make, if only for her own peace of mind. Ever since Kyle had told her the truth about her nature, she had been proud to correct anybody's understandable misconceptions. The components of her physical form--particularly the metal--were as cold and lifeless as any machine. The essence of her being, however...the warmth of the Green Construct that passed for skin...anyone capable who touched her would notice the resemblance to organic body warmth. "Otherwise, yes, you are correct."
