"True enough. When there is nothing...well, stirring the people does work, doesn't it. Something good, yes. I think we could all use that. But perhaps we do not need to invent a new tradition so much as...do you suppose that we might share our own traditions with them and each other?" He's not sure where the idea is coming from, but there it is.

"Less...taking things over and more gently inviting them to learn how things are for us. I think there may be Foreigners here forever, now." He adds. "Perhaps it might help if we were to cement our own images and share THOSE with the people, instead. It could give us our own identity too,in the process. And after all...they HAVE shared all of theirs with us."
