It took a few days to track Nelo down. The collection and departure had been very neat and tidy--and something of a surprise. If Nelo were so discontented by Dante's absence, why didn't he leave earlier, when Dante had first left? Besides that, Nelo had never given Anton the impression that he was in the way of sudden and unexpected decisions.

Even though Nelo had said he would return himself, that rather put Anton on the defensive. While much of his style included reaction rather than action, this was one circumstance where he didn't feel 'reacting' was an appropriate response. Better to go on the offensive--so to speak.

Fortunately, Anton had a number of friends who were gang-members and were able to direct him toward Nelo's new place, and it was less than Nelo's stipulated 'week' before Anton knocked on the man's door with a shapeless bundle under his arm.
