The explaination had been based on the assumtion that his brother had told Anton more then he clearly had. Valdis had known, so Vergil assumed that Anton would as well. When the question was posed the suprise showed on his face for a moment as he pushed off the back of the chair and finally set to making that tea he had offered earlier.
"The bullets yes, but he did not know it was me. He had no way of knowing. I do not hold that against him. I suppose the best way to explain this is from the beginning." He more pondered aloud than asked, looking back he did finally pose a question. "Do you prefer rose or peppermint for tea?" Sure neither was really the flavor he offered but it was close enough for his tastes. The water set to boil he turned, his hands going behind his back standing properly, as he looked at Anton.
"Mundus is the ruler of the demonic world. He was the one my father betrayed to save the human world. AS Dante hates our father I am sure he never mentioned it, but our father was a very important demon. This made him many enemies, one being his former lord, Mundus. A very long tale made short, I made some very bad and stupid choices and ended up trapped in the demon world. I assumed it would be a cake walk, I feel under Mundus' power, and for that I lost my sword, my mind and my freedom. The version of me you met at your hotel was a puppet created to keep me docile, my body and strength under Mundus' control, my mind locked away but able to see all that was happening." He explained the very short version of it all. "It is a little more complex than that, but it is the cliff notes version."
