Characters: Wanijima Akito + OPEN
Date: March 10th
Location: all around Keeliai
Situation: delivering baked goods to choice people; trying to enjoy himself on his first birthday on Tu Vishan.

It's the coldest birthday Akito can remember, and not just because of the weather. The warmth of his winter jacket does nothing to ease the chill in his heart and mind - the spaces Agito used to always occupy. He feels his other half's absence more strongly today than he has in weeks, so much so that it is an almost physical pain.
So Akito does what he does best: distracts himself. Puts his own feelings out of mind and focuses on everything and everyone around him. He has a bag filled with baked goods to give to the ones who have impacted his life in Keeliai positively, crafted carefully over the past few days to the best of his abilities. Its weight burns solidly against his side, working hard to heat him up from the inside out.
Early that morning he dresses himself up, wanting to feel pretty. Normally he chooses practicality and functionality over anything else, though still always careful to make sure everything looks nice, but sometimes he just wants to feel like he could fit into the childhood fairy tales that made a less than ideal childhood bearable. Like he's the princess that everyone always loves. Like he would be able to find a fairy tale prince that could actually love him back.
What better day to indulge in childhood delusions than your birthday? He certainly can't think of any.
So Akito pulls on his warmest stockings and a dress that reminds him of home. Blood red kanzashi are skillfully placed, holding the hair up off of his neck. They bloom in Agito's favourite colour, and so can watch his back on his protector's behalf.
Makeup is strange and less common for him to use, but the girls at home taught him how to wear it. Blush for Nakayama, because that's what she usually does around Agito. Lip gloss for Emily, because when asked about makeup she could never say enough about how useful it was. For the boys of Kogarasumaru he makes sure to keep the team emblem pinned to the lapel of his jacket.
For his father he puts one small bead in his hair.
Once Akito finds himself suitably dressed, he packs up all of the gifts and heads out for a day of deliveries.

It takes Akito the better part of the day to make sure every cookie, cupcake, and letter were left with who they were intended. Starting with the Metal Sector, then Fire, then Water, then finding a Woodsman, heading to the Welcome Center, and then finally the Midnight Hotel.
Whenever queried as to why he's decided to give out these gifts, Akito will just laugh and explain it's an early White Day gift, meant to show he appreciates what they've done for him.
When he has no one left to visit, Akito lingers in the Hotel for a while longer. Finding a quiet, empty space he removes his jacket and takes one last cupcake out of his bag. It's a little squashed by now, and the icing somewhat melted, but it's still good for what it's meant to be.
Today he is twelve. Today he is seventeen. He doesn't feel any different from yesterday, or the day before.
Today he turns fifteen again.
He pulls out one tiny candle, places it in the cupcake, and lights it with a match.
When Akito blows out the candle he doesn't bother making a wish.
