Well for better or worse Genis hadn't heard anything about Sonja whatsoever, so there's nothing colouring his viewpoints of the military lady. For all he knew, she was something that could have fit into his world except for perhaps the fact that she wouldn't have dressed in the styles he was accustomed to. But that's neither here nor there.

Genis is making a paella... or at least a massively scaled down version of it, and his primary goal was to figure out the spices and the specific fish and sea creatures that would go well with it. After all, it's not like someone could just find purple satay here in this world, and Genis didn't even know what components went into purple satay. The smell that was coming from the pot was certainly pleasing, though Genis certainly wasn't celebrating a victory just yet.

When he hears the voice coming from behind him, he turns around and smiles. He's still a little wary, but it's obviously not a kedan, so that's at least a plus in his book.

"Thanks! I'm still not quite happy with it yet though. It doesn't taste exactly like it does back home," he says with a little bit of a frown on his face. "The spices here are so very different, and I just haven't found the right flavour combination yet."
