[The shoe obviously doesn't have the sound of a foot in it -- and Sokka isn't going to be stupid enough at this point to make that large of a sound.]

[But it is an unexpected noise -- a punctuation mark in an otherwise silent room. And it throws her off just enough to distract focus for that barest of instants.]

[He comes closer than she would have wanted. Closer than he should have. She only twists at the very last instant, yanking herself away from the path of the blade.]

[For the flicker of a moment, her eyes widen -- before she sweeps his feet out from underneath him to recover her dignity.]
