OPEN LOG; The Masked Man

CHARACTERS; Yokai and YOU!
DATE; Throughout the month of April. [Mostly at night.]
LOCATION; All about Keeliai!
SITUATION; A certain old man has terrible coping methods when it comes to dealing with racing thoughts and stress. A certain masked man finds himself exploring Keelai through yellowed eyes, and may or may not be running in to trouble in the meantime.
WARNINGS/RATINGS; Possible violence. Otherwise, nothing past PG-13.

See me, the red lines cry. See my role in this story, see that I have a wrong to right; see that I am power and that I will not be denied.

Callaghan hadn't chosen the mask without being ignorant of its meaning; he had, however, chosen it for a multitude of reasons. All symbolism aside, it offered full-face coverage, and hardly blocked his peripheral vision. Secured with the ski mask underneath, it would take (and had taken) a heavy strike to knock off, but since arriving here in Keeliai, he'd made a few further tweaks to ensure that if, for whatever reason, he had to don it again...

To be fair, he hadn't considered donning it for the freedom it offered. Dressing in the outfit again felt inherently good, as did running along the building edges with the microbots enhancing his movements. He did not know parkour, per se, but he didn't need to - not when the microbots were there by his feet to give him the push or pull he needed to cross an alley, not when they could toss him in to the air and his own strength could grab on to a protrusion to haul himself in to another position.

God, but this felt good. It felt right. And as long as he could keep himself out of view, the microbots next to him, and the terrain itself from betraying him...

He just had to be careful, was all. Without nearly as many microbots as he had before, he tried to keep to the shadows. And if that ended up with him overseeing a few gang members or so...?

On one hand, it wasn't any of his business.

On the other, there's something to be said about getting carried away.

((Over the course of the month, rumors will begin to spread regarding a mysterious figure, some mugging incidents [unclear as to what side they were partaking in], and some thefts as well. feel free to put a general time period/area in your first comment, or PM/plurk me and we can do something specific!))

Oh no, he's definitely taking the opportunity to run.

It takes him a moment to figure out what's going on, however. One moment he's being slowly choked by a kedan who doesn't speak, who seems to be getting more out of the display of power than anything else, and Alistair's clawing at the hand at his throat but it's not doing any good and his vision is starting to grey at the edges. The next? The next they're scrambling, shouting at each other, what's going on who did that who the fuck--

--and now, now he's running.

He has to push roughly past one of them to get at an escape route but manners are the least of his concerns at present, and it's only when he's a good ten paces past them that they start shouting at him, remember that they were actually doing something before they were mysteriously attacked.

It's not much of a lead, but hell if I'm going to pass it up.

He's focused on running, on keeping ahead of the kedan and not tripping because if the shouting and cursing behind him are anything to go by, the kedan getting their hands on him again is probably the last thing he wants right now. So when there's a rush of air and a tightening around his chest his initial assumption is that he's been tackled somehow, and it isn't until he realizes that he's not falling forward but rather being lifted that he bothers to look down.

Microbots.

Maybe he forgets to breathe for a minute, or maybe it's the microbots crushing too tight around him. He couldn't say, can't find many coherent thoughts at all except microbots and Callaghan and I'm going to die. The look of terror on his face is enough to give the kedan pause, if the swirling mass of black metal hadn't been enough already.

He has them. He must have the mask. And there's no one to stop him this time.

Krei's throat has gone dry, he couldn't even speak to answer if he wanted to. Eyes wide, still in shock, he nods a quick assent to Callaghan's demand. Anything, anything to somehow stay alive this time.

Of course that all flies out the window as soon as Callaghan turns and leaves him alone, focusing on the kedan. Alistair blinks, not quite understanding. Looks around. His first instinct now is to flee, but is there anywhere to go up here on the roof? He's not like Callaghan, doesn't have the microbots to go flying around wherever he wants to go. He's flesh and blood and if he slips and falls he's going to die regardless of Callaghan's plans.

When the sounds of the kedan shouting filter up from the alley, something clicks in his mind and he decides to try anyway. There's another building butting up against this one on one side, and he's athletic enough, and maybe he can manage to find a fire escape or something to let him back down to street level if he can just get there before Callaghan turns his attention back this way....
