The considered evenness of Raine's voice just made Solomon feel even more irritated. It was so ... so calm, as if she was pandering to a recalcitrant patient--even though her being calm and straightforward was one of the things he liked about her. He knew it was contrary and it wasn't helping. It was just making things worse, to know he wasn't, currently, able to be that controlled, even when it was unfair.
