Tony looks down, at his hand that's still clenched around the ring. Gene's description of putting it on for the first time is disturbing. Tony's afraid of seeing that side of Gene come out again - but he thinks he'd rather risk that than never try, and spend the rest of their time together dreading the inevitable end.

"You're important to me too," he mumbles thickly, through impending tears. He sniffles, trying to fight them back. "How will you know? When you're ready?"
