"It's fine," Tony says quietly, wiping his eyes and then lifting them to meet Gene's. "You're right. You should think about it first. I'm sorry. I should have asked you before..." Before springing the ring on him. In retrospect, ambushing Gene with the tenth ring was a dick move.

Tony stuffs the ring into his pocket - he'll wait till he's alone again to return it to its hiding place. Then he leans in to hug Gene. "I just don't want to lose you."
