[Cass hadn't cried like that at the funeral, no. She had cried when Hiro couldn't see her--just like she did when they lost their parents. There were still tears, but her focus had been on being there for Hiro. The boys were an inseparable unit, which is why they had survived all those years sharing a bedroom together, even after Tadashi had started college. With Tadashi's death, that unit had been torn in half, and she did all that she could from letting that last part of the unit disappear.
But she didn't have to worry anymore. Not here. Here, Tadashi was alive, and it was wonderful. Heartbreaking in the best way.
Hiro tugging at her shirt brings her back to the present, and she breathes in shakily. She needs to pull it together, if only for a little while longer. These tears are different. They're good tears. But it still hurts.
Later, even after she cries on Tadashi, she'll cry again when she's finally alone. Cass still needs to be strong for her boys, even if she's not able to completely hide her tears right now. If she wasn't as strong as she was, she'd probably be crying into Hiro's shoulder. And where would that leave them?
She laughs shakily after Tadashi talks, reaching out to try to touch Hiro's cheek again--wait, no, scratch that, she's giving him a tight hug, letting out a sniff. At least no new tears are falling, and he can't see her face with the way she's holding him.]
I'm so sorry I didn't believe you, honey. I'm so sorry....
[Sorry, Hiro. Your aunt is going to make you feel awkward for a few moments longer. But at least she's not outright crying anymore, right? She does finally release him after several long seconds, drying her tears with the palm of her hand. Another sniff. She's going to need a tissue at some point.
She's finally able to address Tadashi with a mostly steady voice:]
We'll... see you soon.
[Too many emotions at once. She doesn't quite know how to handle all of this....]
