Oddly enough, he'd also have one very disappointed angel on his hands later.

Even as she watched in disappointment, however, she couldn't deny that he did look good in the uniform... Regardless of who he had arrived with, she was glad she had gotten him into that outfit.

Feeling someone's eyes on him, Yuri turned to look and blinked as his gaze met Dove's. She was obviously dressed differently than usual, and had a mask on, so it took him a moment... but he soon recognized her. A smile being passed her way.

Oh, so now he was looking for her.

She met the smile with a blank look back, failingly refusing the disappointment to show...

And fell just short of spiteful as she lowered her eyes and turned away. It was foolish to be jealous, she knew, but for the moment, she was irritated that he had escorted someone other than her. Without knowing the other girl, she couldn't feel badly toward her, but all the same... She couldn't fight the frustration, especially after they had just resolved the distance he had put between them.

She needed to cool off, knew it, and would do just that.

...by dancing with as many people as she could until he decided to come get her.

Yuri blinked in surprise at the cold look, and he was left bewildered and wondering. Had he done something wrong?

Lambert sidled up next to him and Yuri looked down at his canine companion with a sigh. "Looks like I'm the one in the dog house tonight."

The dog just huffed a reply.

Yuri would give her a little time to cool off first before going to find her.

She eventually cools a bit, clearly enjoying the ball as she makes another dancing, glowing spectacle of herself. He'll probably find it safe to approach her toward the midway point of the party... Even if she has been tossing glances his way over the shoulders of multiple handsome dance partners all evening.

While Yuri had gone off to do his own thing, he had stolen a few glances in Dove's direction occasionally. Having more than noticed that she'd been dancing a lot, and with some other guys. Which... wasn't an unreasonable thing to do. But she seemed to have even been flirting with some of them? Particularly that guy in the red.

Eventually, Yuri wanders over to Dove and her latest dance partner. Some Kedan fellow, whom Yuri taps on the shoulder.

"Mind if I cut in? I've owed her a dance all evening."

Fortunately the Kedan didn't object.

While the Kedan didn't object, Dove wasn't entirely sure if she did or not. Though she had switched partners multiple times that evening, her face fell a little in surprise when the newcomer turned out to be her boyfriend. Almost reluctantly, she gave the Kedan a parting smile and a small bow, then turned to Yuri, sliding her hand into his and the other to his shoulder. It wasn't bad to see him, and she was pleased that he had finally found his way over to her, but the petty bitterness lingered. She was almost ashamed of herself.

"So," she started, not quite meeting his eyes, "did your date ditch you?"
wolfstrike: (say wha?)

Taking Dove's hand, Yuri started to dance with her. Though the question brought on a blink of surprise.

"Date? What date?"

"The... blue... girl that you showed up with," she explained in a sigh, quickly losing steam. This really wasn't something worth fighting over, and she knew it. Why, then, was she so upset by it?

A blink.

"Lapis? You thought she was my date?"

Now the pieces started to fit together as he recalled the look she had given him earlier while he was with Lapis. It was starting to make sense now.

"She was just too shy to come into the party by herself, that's all. Nothing you need to get jealous about."

Now she'll meet his eyes, but it's a snap, and most likely just from reaction.

"Who said anything about being jealous?" she bites quietly, before dropping her gaze to his shoulder and then out over into the crowd again. "I just assumed that after this afternoon," --And everything they'd already been through together, relationship notwithstanding.-- "that you'd want to make our entrance together."

Because getting him into that outfit in the first place had been a feat on its own. A very fun feat, in some respects, but certainly a challenge nonetheless.
wolfstrike: (huh?)

"It's pretty obvious," Yuri points out, still dancing with her despite the bit of drama.

He then shrugged. "She looked like she needed some help. Is making an entrance really that big of a deal? You looked like you were having fun with all those other guys anyway, especially the one in red."

Yes he had been paying attention too.

Another sigh, this one a bit frustrated. She's run out of steam. He's backed her into a corner of truth, and she's not going to be able to fight it.

"It is to some people," she mumbled, shaking her head and shaking it off. "Forget about it. I'm glad you got her into the party, in any case."

Forcing the rest of the mild irritation down, she spun away, then back to him, this time with a forced little grin. "They were all very nice," she informed him. "And I did have fun. Don Juan was very... attentive."

Now the grin is slightly more relaxed as she fights a little giggle. That poor kid hadn't known how to handle her, despite her being on her best behavior. "I even sang for him."
wolfstrike: (say wha?)

Yuri has the sneaking suspicion that she's still mad at him despite her attempts to dismiss it. But Yuri doesn't know what else to say, so he lets it go. So he just listens as they continued to dance.

"You can sing?" he asks with a blink. She's never sung for him before.
phoenixstrut: (who me?)

[personal profile] phoenixstrut 2015-11-08 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
She's trying. She really is.

"Of course I can sing," she told him, a little dumbfounded, but turning a little pink all the same. She wasn't usually one to sing around people, unless they were her children charges or someone under her care, but she had gotten a little caught up in the moment with Don Juan..

"Most guardian angels-- most angels can sing. It's sort of a stereotype that's...well, true."
