my boy builds coffins for the rich and the poor

Characters: Solomon, Raine, Yorda, Snape, Pepper, anyone else!
Date: Month of February, 2016 (2017 in-game).
Location: Various
Situation: Practicing Duel Monsters, telling stories to kidlets, research research research, oh and also having that conversation Ravel instigated.
Warnings/Rating: Shouldn’t be any, but will be marked as applicable.

A: THE APARTMENT; EARTH SECTOR
The spacious apartment in Earth Sector is by now well-known to the neighbours as ‘the healer and the shadow-man’s house’, though luckily with far less suspicion than it used to be. So anyone looking for either Raine or Solomon’s apartment will be directed quite cheerfully to their door.

Inside the apartment is usually a case of comfortable routine, even with Valentine’s Day coming up. (Solomon isn’t opposed to celebrations … he just doesn’t see the point in this particular holiday on this particular date.) Aside from one particularly important conversation early/mid-month, courtesy of Erskine being Cupid, this routine doesn’t vary all that much.

Raine is usually first out of the house, but Solomon’s usually the first back, if he leaves; Raine can be counted upon to spend her days at the Healers’ Guild, but Solomon’s work means he splits his time between Guild, apartment and fieldwork among the sectors. Still, a good chance of catching him at the apartment during the day or in the early mornings or evenings.

B: THE HEALERS’ GUILD; WATER SECTOR
Although not specifically a healer, Solomon’s laboratory is based in the Healers’ Guild, mostly because of space. The laboratory itself is generally off-limits, though its entrance is in one of the Guild’s courtyards, through a stone archway made of obsidian and white marble (or rather, a manufactured analogue to white marble). When the door is closed it’s warded, but often it’s left open while Solomon is inside.

Oddly enough, it casts no shadow.

Otherwise Solomon does, in fact, have an office in the Guild – or rather a morgue. Though Solomon doesn’t do all, or even most, of the autopsy work these days, he can still be found in a small room down the way from the actual morgue. (There is, in fact, a skeleton hanging in the office. It is, in fact, a kedanese skeleton.)

He can also be found in an apron in the morgue, giving instruction to new coroners or helping out with more mystifying cases (or using the morgue for his own cases), but for some reason people aren’t generally happy to visit him at those particular times.

C: THE COURTYARD KIDLETS; EARTH SECTOR
On the way home in the evenings, Solomon can be counted upon to be found in an Earth Sector courtyard a few streets away from the apartment. He’s usually only there for half-an-hour, but it’s always with an audience of mostly children.

Most of them live in the area, but not all. They all clearly know him, though, because his arrival starts a regular ritual: they beg him for a story; he pretends to consider; they beg some more and finally he acquiesces to be led to the stone wall. The stories are usually Irish in nature, old tales and legends, and are always accompanied by shadow puppetry. (That is, actual rising-out-of-the-ground-and-being-shaped shadows.)

D: THE CAUSEWAY/JAGAIZ ARRANGEMENTS; HATAL
For a couple of weeks Solomon can be found in Hatal on the Causeway level speaking to various performers or proprietors of movable stalls. It’s innocent business, he swears, but he’s asking some odd questions. Like ‘how high is that ceiling’ and ‘how much damage could that wall take’. Some of the people he speaks to seem pretty excited by whatever explanation he’s given them.

Of course, he usually buys something, so maybe they’re just excited over a regular foreign customer.

Solomon’s also down at the Jagaiz rings a few times, though he isn’t there for the matches (after all, he’s blind. Not much point in watching, is there?). He’s just talking to people, mostly sponsors. Learning rules, and so forth, obviously. Nothing strange here.

[ooc: Thanks to necromancy + blindness Solomon has a form of soul-right, but it's not very detailed. He can usually tell people apart and whether there are scars on a soul, but he's still figuring out what the nuances mean, so it's not much different to being able to see the differences between someone's hair/eye/skin colour but not understanding the genetics behind them. Still, let me know if there's anything he might be able to tell specifically, or if you'd prefer he'd have trouble seeing anything at all.]
