"There's that," said Solomon, "if you need to guilt yourself into telling someone." Now his tone was serious, all humour gone. "But alternately, there's the hypocrisy issue. You've been telling me about the value of friendship. You've told Skulduggery the same thing. Are you above your own values, now? Too good to rely on your friends?"

Of course she wasn't, and his tone wasn't the least bit mocking, wasn't deriding. But she was holding herself to a different standard, and that was just ... stupid. That was what his words aimed to prod.
