and the air was full [April, catchall, OPEN]
Characters: Raine Sage, OPEN
Date: April, various
Location: Healers' Guild, apartment, sky, other
Situation: a variety! This is definitely your stop for Raine at the Healers' Guild, for sure. Others tba.
Warnings/Rating: None currently; will update as that changes.
A | Healers' Guild | open
Raine, most days of the week, can be found at the Healers' Guild, though rarely at the front desk. Any of the multiple kedan who volunteer or heal here will be happy to point visitors toward Raine's office, however, especially if they have an appointment; even those not strictly looking for Raine will be pointed her way if they express they want to help around the Guild.
Raine can also occasionally be found in the halls, or simply passing through the main entryway, though she will appear somewhat distracted and may take a moment to focus on someone talking to her.
B | errands, out and about -- any sector OR outside Milyn's clinic | open
Basket in one hand, staff in the other, Raine isn't an uncommon sight in markets, or especially in the streets of the Water Sector. She walks quickly, like she's on a mission, but she can't help but turn her steps in Water toward Milyn's clinic.
She doesn't go in, but she stands across the street for a long time, a distantly troubled expression on her face.
C-1 | Hatal, Lorn Level | open
Raine's been spending some more time in Hatal, lately, but this-- this startles her. A group of Kin'nal are experimenting with something she recognizes-- a strange vehicle that looks somewhere between a motorcycle and a butterfly or dragon, and a small pack. "Excuse me," Raine says, hardly able to believe she's saying it. "I-- believe those are mine."
Anyone in the vicinity will shortly thereafter be witness to a peculiar sight, as Raine takes the pack and runs her hands over it. Yes, there are her initials, graven besides the silhouette of a wing. She manipulates it just so, and the entire vehicle vanishes into it, in a curious sliding of matter. Raine lets out a sigh of relief. "Thank you," she tells the Kin'nal, who are more or less happy to let her take it, though she does insist on giving them some recompense.
She doesn't know what her rheaird is doing here, but it's a stroke of luck.
C-2 | skies over Keeliai | open to those with flight capabilities
Raine wastes no time in making sure it works as it should, and anyone in the sky or even looking up at the right time may catch sight of her. It works like a charm, and she handles it with the ease of practice as she skims over the city, mindful of the safe distance. She likes flying, a great deal more than she likes anything to do with swimming, and the rheaird is a small-impact piece of magitechnology, one that doesn't put an undue drain on her environment.
She indulges herself with a loop, when she thinks no one could possibly see.
D | apartment, Earth sector | Solomon
It's one of those days when Raine comes home after Solomon; she announces her return with a quiet "I'm home" from the door, and sets about putting her things away. Her jacket gets hung by the door, since things are warming and she really doesn't need it indoors, her staff leans next to it, and she idly orients on Solomon's mana -- his study, unsurprising -- and heads that way, turning the day over in her head as she does.
"Some days, I wonder about the wisdom of working in the Water sector," she says wryly, half to herself though it's aloud, and she leans in the doorway. Open, so he isn't involved in something he'd mind being interrupted. "How did your day go?"

makaricrow and we can work something out! I'd love new CR as well as old.]

"Man, I would totally love to see a dragon. Or watch a dragon race a plane. Oooh, or race a dragon myself," she says, practically singing. Her dangerous grin returns. "So... since you're all about experimentation - wanna race?"
no subject
"The wild ones are often defensive of their territory, but the domesticated breeds are friendly enough," she says. "Unfortunately, we were called upon to fight a number of wild dragons. Even the smaller ones are formidable foes." Still, if there was some way to take Pepper to Aselia, dragon riding could entirely be arranged.
"A race?" Raine says, with a note of interest. "With what parameters?" Which is definitely not a no.
no subject
"Domesticated dragons! And I thought pet bobcats were cool," Pepper returns, beaming. She'd be thrilled to see a wild one as well, perhaps even more so than a tamed one.
"Uh, once around the city? Or here to the turtle's head and back - I guess it kind of depends on how well that thing corners."
no subject
And there's one point of clarity to make. "With a very few exceptions, they aren't really pets, per se," Raine adds. "Rather, they occupy a similar niche to the kirin, although they're less widespread."
no subject
The clarification does little to dim Pepper's enthusiasm about dragons. She's getting used to Raine's insistence on the facts, and she can embellish them in her own imagination as she sees fit.
"Sounds good to me," Pepper answers with a nod, moving to the side of the rheaird. "Makes it simpler. I promise I won't vanish into thin air this time."
no subject
Raine directs them toward the Sky sector, then, to get their starting point settled and to make one lap of the city an easy business. The rheaird handles easily, almost more like floating than flying, and Raine is apparently long since used to it-- any rustiness from the years in between has been rubbed away. When they're set to begin, Raine gives Pepper a smile. "I appreciate the consideration," she says, with no small amount of dryness. "Shall we?"
no subject
She follows along next to Raine, examining the rheaird further as they go. It'll be quite interesting to see if it can keep up with her suit.
"On three," she nods. "One, two-" The boot jets flare. "-three!"
And she's off, speeding forward.
no subject
As Pepper counts Raine flexes her fingers, adjusting her grip, and at three she takes off, accelerating with startling rapidity, the shielding of the rheaird keeping the worst of the forces from her. She matches Pepper at least at first, but it's evident as they proceed that the rheaird is better at pivoting than turning, and Pepper has significantly better agility.
All the same, Raine is herself grinning.
no subject
She glances back, catching the grin on her friend's face that mirrors her own. When Pepper had carried the healer before, she hadn't fooled around much, but now she starts to spiral in wide loops, whooping audibly through the external speakers.
no subject
She pushes the rheaird to catch up with Pepper, eking extra little fractions of speed out of it here and there, but broadly she can tell it won't be able to match Pepper if she goes much faster. And then, of course, Pepper starts spiraling, and Raine can't help but laugh with the force of Pepper's sheer joy, even as she tries to outpace her.
This is an excellent use of the afternoon.
no subject
She sets her target speed, stops spiraling, and glances back at Raine.
"Eat my silver and purple dust!"
The jets flare brighter, and Pepper shoots away - but not too far. She wants to find out how fast that rheaird can go, and that means keeping it in sensor range.
no subject
It in no way equals the suit's capabilities, but Raine still keeps after Pepper at a relatively good clip, refusing to slow down one bit.
She will admit, if pressed, that this is as much for the sheer fun of it as it is for the assessment of the rheaird's upper limits.
When they're back around to where they started over the city Raine will stop the rheaird, nearly on a dime, and free her hands from the steering, shaking out her fingers.
no subject
She doesn't push the suit to outpace the rheaird by much until right before they reach their starting point, and once she passes it Pepper arcs up into a wide loop. Her path brings her back under where Raine has stopped, and she rolls over so she's facing her friend when she comes level with the craft again, laughing and cheering.
"That. Was. Awesome," Pepper declares, thrilled. She's beaming when she opens the faceplate again. "This is so much better than track racing."
no subject
It isn't something Raine would have done on her own recognizance, but now she knows somewhat more about the Rheaird's upper limits, and it was fun besides. It was fortunate she ran into Pepper.
