Arno supposes it IS true, from a certain perspective. He's involved because other people have gotten him involved, and then it got pushed to this level. And he does agree, in a way, that stepping back is probably the intelligent, actually reasonable thing to do here. Of course, he doesn't exactly want to. What he really wants is to get Shay away from his weapons, and, in some strange way, to prove himself, and his ability to handle situations like this.
And it's not as though Shay hasn't got a point to what he's saying. There ARE plenty of them who would gladly sacrifice lives, not even simply templars in order to bring THAT about. Bellec...he thinks, painfully, his breath constricting a little. God knows Arno does not want to go through that again. Of course, Shay's continuing and that's when Arno does actually flinch, the implication of the last bit there being most disturbing yet.
