Obi-Wan has a great deal of sympathy for him. He knows its difficult for Galen, and he can't fault him for it. Thus he's trying to be an anchor for him. To hopefully ease his troubled mind and help him find his way. He's doing the best he can anyway. But after his failure with Anakin, he's not sure what to expect. If he will be a good enough mentor.

"Perhaps, so. Though you will have to face these fears at some point. It's not until then, that you'll be able to overcome them."

But he's not certain Galen is ready to do that just yet.
