After finally having the dampener surgically removed from his neck, Penny had begun experimenting with his magic almost right away. The drugs helped keep the voices at bay while he learned to refocus and taught a couple of the kedan he lived in the vicinity of how to keep him out of their minds. Well, after the one had kicked him out of his temporary home. But that was old news. The important part was when he'd accidentally traveled.

Penny didn't know if it was the drugs or the world messing with his magic. Normally it was a conscious choice to travel, taking into consideration all the appropriate variables and scrying an anchor on the ground to bring him back if needed. This time, he'd drifted somehow and an attempt to astral project himself into his own area had taken him far, far away and made him utterly lost. He hesitated to travel again without knowing all the conditions and having no way to know where exactly he'd come from. So he walked.

Six, almost seven weeks later, he was tired and grumpy and yet somehow kind of excited about his time away from people and being able to study the land. But it meant missing work and his makeshift home on the street would no doubt be gone by the time he returned, along with most of his meager possessions. So yeah, he did try to get back, walking along and using the occasional easy spell for warmth or guidance. Food was harder to come by, but manageable.

Which is why, when he finally saw someone in the distance, Penny's gut reaction was to prepare for a fight. It was suspicious to see a lone figure out in the middle of nowhere after being isolated for so long. Well, other than the occasional kedan nomad, but those hippies were worthless.

"Who the hell are you?" He asked of the guy some several yards away.
