1: Cat Cafe

It had been a few days since Danny had picked up one of the lucky bibiru feet. He thought the idea was a little creepy, but hey, it had been free. And it wasn't like it would actually bring any kind of luck.

....Danny really should have known better.

But as it was, it comes as a complete surprise to him when he suddenly loses control over his intangibility at the worst possible time. Halfway through a shift in the kitchen of the cat cafe. There is a loud crashing sound as an entire tray of plates falls through Danny's suddenly intangible hands.

2. Street, Central District

Danny's day really wasn't getting any better. He'd taken the first excuse he could to leave the cafe, but the bad luck continues. Five times on the way home, Danny slowly starts sinking through the sidewalk. The first time, it catches him by surprise, and he trips over an empty sidewalk as the tips of his toes phase into the concrete. Once again there is a crash as he falls to the gour

3. Ioa Elanog

There was nothing Danny liked better than exploring new territories. Several times throughout the month he could be caught flying above the new land as a ghost, sometimes swooping down close to the ground and landing to examine something new.

Adrien had been coming in from bussing a table, entering the kitchen at the worst possible moment. He pauses, the doors swishing closed behind him. He looks at Danny, then at the tray. Did that go right through his hands? It looks like it went right through his hands!!!!.

"Uh...you okay there, Danny?"

He comes over to help pick up the shattered crock-wear, maybe he was just seeing things?

"Perfectly fine," Danny forced out in a slightly strangled voice. Of course someone would walk in and see that. But had he seen it? Did he know what it meant?

Danny hastily puts his still intangible hands behind his back.

"Hey, I can get it. There's still people out there, right?"

"I think they can live a couple of minutes."

Adrien turns to grab a broom, frowning as Danny hides his hands. Okay...this is getting weird.

"You didn't cut yourself or anything, did you?"

"No, I'm fine! Everything's fine. I just figured I should clean up the mess I made. You know, all alone."

Danny backs up slightly to make sure his hands were hidden behind his body.

Sheena doesn't see him fall, but by the gods, she hears it. Hurrying around the corner at the crash, she sees Danny on the ground in the middle of a mess.

"Danny! Are you okay?" she asks, rushing over. As she checks him out, she does a double-take. Are his toes in the concrete? Nah. It can't be.

Can it?

Hell, after some of the things she's seen, it's possible. But she doesn't let that show as she holds a hand out to him.

"...Are you sure?"

Adrien sure doesn't sound sure, in fact, he sounds pretty worried.

"I mean, there's a lot of it, you could probably use the help."

"Oh, yeah, totally sure." He grins nervously. "I'll just stay here and clean up."

His hands were still behind back. Danny didn't dare look yet to see if they were tangible again.

"Sheena?" He grins nervously at her as she helps him off the ground. He hastily moves his feet and pulls himself out of the ground.

"Oh, I'm fine. I guess I'm just a klutz."

Adrien watches him a moment. Yeah. Something is super weird here.

"...Okay, but shout me if you need me, right?"

He'll slooooowly back to the door, squinting a little. He's watching you, friend.

For a moment, a brief moment, Danny has hope of getting out of this with his secret intact. All he needed a was a minute to himself to get himself 100% tangible again.

...And then his bad luck strikes again, as he abruptly loses the rest of his tangibility and starts to sink through the floor.

...Yeah, okay, that is far less easy to excuse away. The door swooshes closed at Adiren's back- he was just about to leave but this has him stopped in his tracks. He opens his mouth, about to say something ridiculous like 'Danny, do you realise that you've halfway through the floor????' before his mouth snaps closed.

A realisation dawns on him, and his eyes widen. Wow. First Marinette and now this. He really was Captain Obvious. One hand moves to wave vaguely in Danny's direction, his mouth opening and closing like a goldfish. Wow how did he miss this, they literally have the same first name and everything. How?!!!

"Oh my god, it's you."

"There is a perfectly logical explanation for this!" Danny blurts out quickly. "As soon as I figure out what it is."

He was really, really trying not to panic. Because how do you explain away this? That was it, his life was over. From now on it was going to be running around being hunted and trying not to be-

...That was a really weird reaction, come to think of it.

"What do you mean, it's me?"

"What, like you can turn into a ghost? That kind of explanation?"

He sounds...weirdly excited about this. His face is shifting from confusion and splitting into a real grin. This is great! Another civilian friend who also happens to be a superhero friend. How perfect is this?

"That you're Danny, Danny."

Seriously, the same first name and everything. How did he miss it?

Danny freezes up. "It's a lie I'm not a ghost!"

Which wasn't convincing at all. But for Danny, certain denials had become habit.

And why was Adrien so happy? Shouldn't he be freaking out a little? It wasn't every day that you discovered that your friend wasn't exactly 100% human. Or alive.

"Yeah? That's my name?"

He felt like he was missing something.

"...Dude. Your whole bottom half is literally through the floor right now."

Adrien might be captain oblivious, but that one is really hard to miss. Still, it doesn't seem to dampen his delight any.

"I mean like, the other Danny, too. As in ghosty superhero Danny?"

"...Uh, optical illusion?"

He didn't really have a good excuse for that.

"Oh, that guy." Danny keeps grinning nervously. "Weird coincidence right."

He blinks. "Wait. Hold on a moment. How do you know him?"

Danny was almost certain he'd never met him when he was a ghost.

Adrien leans forward a little to stamp his food on the obviously very solid floor.

"Yeah. No."

Adrien is well aware he's slipping into dangerous territory here, but he's surprised that he doesn't actually care. Sure, he has Marinette here, but that's not quite the same. They have their own weird issues to deal with- it's not as easy, just shooting the breeze about superhero stuff. It still feels a little like he's crossed a line he shouldn't have. They're still getting used to seeing one another as the same person, doing that careful dance around one another, around their feelings for each other.

Danny's different, though. Marinette is a friend, but so is Danny, in a different way. He's from a different world, but their rules are much the same. He became a friend out of choice, and Adrien has honestly been glad to have him. He'd been pondering, after Valdis let slip she knew his identity too, that perhaps he could start telling people- people who mattered the truth. That it didn't matter as much here. And when he thought of that, Danny as one of the first people to come to his mind who deserved to know.

And now this. Of course. He should have seen it sooner, but he didn't. And this...well, it was a comfort. A shared secret without the weight that his and Marinette's holds. He laughs softly, leaning on the wall, folding his arms.

"We run into one another a lot. Supurrrhero business, you know."

"Chat Noir?"

The exclamation comes out in a rather strangled tone of voice. Danny gives up on pretending that there was any reasonable explanation for his tangibility, and simply floats up out of the ground and lands on the floor.

"Seriously? How did I miss that?"

There's a thrill here. Danny is the first person he's told outside of Marinette. Sure Valdis and Solomon had figured it out, but technically they used powers and cheated. This is something of his own violation, and he's surprised that it actually feels good. Freeing.

A light smirk crosses his lips that usually only belongs on Chat Noir, a far cry from the polite mask Adrien wears constantly.

"Because I wear a mask and actually changed my name?"

"Hey!" Danny huffs. "It isn't like people ever make the connection. All most people see is the ghost part."

Danny has been successfully distracted from fretting over being hunted down by ghost scientists and experimented on. He still has no idea what to even think about Adrien being a superhero. He was still boggling over completely missing something this big.

"Right. The whole...uh, ghost-hating thing. Still weird, still really not cool."

He hasn't had to deal with too much of that sort of thing. Sure, the citizens of Paris were known to get touchy once in a while, but it always blew over. They never let it fester long.

"Hey, you're out of the floor now at least, yay?"

Danny winces. "Yeah, that. It kind of makes things complicated."

Danny eyes the floor with irritation.

"And I'd feel a lot better about that if I knew why I suddenly lost control of my intangibility.

Well, this at least, is something he can focus on. His powers don't really go wiggy on him, so he hasn't got the experience to fall back on, but logically, there has to be a reason for Danny's to start messing up.

"Does it ever happen back home? Or is this a suddenly happening right now thing?"

Bisi starts at the sound of the crash, and wheels towards the kitchen to check what's going on.

"H-hello?"

Danny answers in a rather strangled voice.

"Everything's fine! No need to come in, I just dropped a tray."
