Klaus had been disbelieving that Devin carried a similar grudge, when they spoke briefly. As long as the other man doesn't try to hurt him without provocation, the vampire didn't much care.

"Honestly, I couldn't tell you. It's just the way we are. I have theories, but they're only that; nothing is a verifiable fact," he replied. A pause, and he continued, albeit a bit more tersely. "Humans are alive in a way we are not. It's that life we're feeding off of, essentially.
