[She turns away and is quiet for a moment, looking out the window again. The colours of the plain shift, forming new patterns that one might believe one could make sense of, if only one could see it from the right height, or the right angle.]

I'm a chrononaut. A member of the League of Temporal Adventurers. I cross Time and Space trying to help others, to do good where I can. Sometimes it even works. I fight to defend the Balance between Law and Chaos, and I've been doing this for a very long time. I've battled madmen who literally sacrificed their own souls for power, seen creatures that style themselves as gods, witnessed the matchless horrors that one ordinary person can commit against another. And I can still be afraid of a shapeshifting, unkillable entity from who-knows-where. I suppose I'm glad to know I'm still mostly human after all.

[She turns back to look at him, her grey eyes bright and steady.]

I don't have the powers or gifts that some people here do. But I promise you that I'll do everything in my power to protect you and the people who live here, foreigner and kedan alike.
