[The first pod cracked occurs in the Metal Sector, with one of the eccentric thinkers of the area prying at it until he notices a faint web of cracks near the crown of the cylinder. The swift application of a vice and an ice pick destablises the whole pod and three apparitions rush out. The first possesses him and two others find the nearest kedan -- and from there, chaos breaks out.
Protection and self defense are the primary goals of these spectres as they search out other pods to break open, freeing comrades to assist them. They attack any bearing signs of technology and some are quick to jump into the biomechanical systems of the turtle.
Friend turning foe raises suspicion between the kedan and they begin to question any that approach them. They do not outright attack, fearing being mistaken for the possessed, but they will avoid close contact and hide any possessions they feel may draw spectre attention.
The police force reacts within a few hours, but with officers equally at risk for being possessed? Things are not as effective as they could be. Foreigners able to withstand or otherwise counter possession are encouraged to take up arms by a decree from the Alderwood Commander -- who is on the frontlines himself, trying to apprehend possessed parties and bestowing temporary authorities on those capable of combatting them.
Meanwhile, the criminal element continues to make the best of a chaotic situation, with looting and mugging on the rise. They claim possession if caught and are displeased on those occasions when that is the literal truth.
