Situation: Evandau put out the call for help against the great and powerful Oz. Malicant. Ozicant. There are the next three teams to be assembled

The police force has a series of leads they need the Foreigners to follow-up on that may (or may not) relate to the entity known as Malicant. Teams 13, 14, and 15 are mobilised now. See the threads in this post for details and contact Alex (reignsdown or the mod account) if you have any questions.

Note: A variety of the options indicate that players can create kedan to fill plot needs in terms of questioning and what have you. These kedan are plot-specific and would not count in the rule-of-tens for NPCs (unless they were referred to after the event; but that is future and this is now).

[After a long cart ride, which Raimei had borne with relative patience, they're finally approaching the quarry itself, and she sits up with interest.]

Hey, we're here! [she announces, grabbing her sword.] What do you think we're going to find? [she asks the cart at large.] Not that I want a fight, but, everyone should be alert. The map guy said there's gangs here sometimes.

[That's a slight lie. Raimei really wants a fight. She's been cooped up and isolated and antsy since she got here, which was a couple weeks ago; but she'd never go looking for one against an opponent that didn't want it, so she has herself curbed.]

*doesn't know either, totally winging it* ^^;

[Amelia was starting to drowse, lulled by the motion of the cart and the warmth of the day, though at Raimei's sudden voice, she jolts back to life, rubbing at her eyes with the back of her hand.]

Eh?

[Immediately she's upright, peering out of the cart in turn.]

It's so empty . . . Do kedan really live out here?

(is cool with winging it) hopefully this works.

[ it takes ariadne a moment to climb out of the cart, as she was busy stuffing her notebook and pencil back into her bag (she can't leave home without it, and it's a good way for her to keep track of what is going on around her) but, when she does finally crawl out, she is frowning at it all and furrowing her brow as she slowly takes in their surroundings. ]

Maybe… [ she replies with a shrug, glancing over towards ameila and offering her a weak smile. ] You'd be surprised what folks will put up with if it's towards something they want.

[ a glance towards the sky, squinting in thought and she is mumbling ]

Any idea what time it is?

We do what we want.

As long as we find something, last thing I want is to go back empty handed. [Once the cart came to a complete stop, Korra put her hand on the edge of it and jumped out.] I know I wouldn’t want to live here.

[Grabbing as many of the supplies out of the cart as she could carry, Korra had her arms full pretty quickly and began eyeing any possible spots that could accommodate their party. She couldn’t help but answer Ariadne’s question with a grin.]

Yeah; time to set up camp.

[Raimei follows her with enthusiasm, happy to be on her feet and moving around again after the ride. She grabs a pile of supplies, too, juggling it and her sword without much difficulty.]

Camping... This brings back some memories! I was doing this not too long ago at home.

We should be careful not to set up too close to the site. If there's enemies there, we need a place to retreat to.

[Someone's used to thinking strategically.]

[Iskierka was -- well, rather large for the cart, so she'd been either flying or walking behind, sticking close to Korra since she at least knows her a little. She glances about upon their arrival, sticking her tongue out and sniffing the air a bit.] If there are enemies here, I shall take care of them. Or at least scout, while you set up camp.

[She sounds rather more eager than she had on the journey, now that they're here and there's something interesting to do.]

[willofjustice]

[A nod to Ariadne, accompanied by a mental sweatdrop.] I guess that's true . . . I guess people can probably get used to anything if they have to, right?

[Time to dig in! Camping had become a pretty common occurrance for Amelia; sometimes in the last few years she felt like she slept outside more than she slept in a bed. With a beam towards Iskierka, she began to pull supplies from the cart as well.] Thank you, Iskierka-san!

At least it should still be pretty warm tonight. Really nice for being under the stars. I kind of wish we'd gotten here earlier, though; it would have been nice to see the site in more daylight. Especially if there really are things going on.

[Amelia did rely on her magic quite a bit; facing this without even a light spell was somewhat daunting. Fortunately their group seemed pretty well put-together.]

How far out should we go? [When Iskierka had been in flight, Korra had spent her time watching that than their trip. Which left her without any real lay of the land, so picking a good camping spot wasn’t the best thing for her to do at the moment. She aimed the question at Raimei. She seemed to be more focused than she was.]

Oh, I think we’ll be pretty tired of seeing that place soon enough Amelia. Let’s just set up camp for the night so we can start tomorrow. [Korra commented with a half smirk as Amelia got out more supplies after Raimei. Between the three of them, they should be able to carry it a good distance.]

They could have information the police force could use. Disabling anyone suspicious should help us get this done. [Iskierka’s claim did concern Korra, who didn’t really want to have to do anything drastic. All the same, Korra was pretty happy to have the dragon nearby her.]

[A raised eyebrow is all Korra give the flash of a note pad she saw Ariadne put away and Korra was reminded of her own note pad she had packed that has her English notes. But she thought better not to ask what it was.]

Late evening. [She felt bad for giving her snarky answer earlier.] Why?

Sure. (im going to be slowish the next 2 days for the 4th sorry bout that)

[ ariadne's attention had drifted on Iskierka for a moment, letting a brief glance of uncertainty cross her face (she's never been around a dragon after all) before she sighed at her thoughts, and offered her a weak smile. No use in making things awkward, and Iskierka clearly hadn't shown signs of her being a threat. ]

You know...[ she started, turning her attention back on the area, a small frown tugging at the corner of her mouth as she did. ] I can't remember the last time I went camping. [ school hadn't exactly made that possible lately. ]

But I'm assuming no matter where we set up, if anyone is actually watching us, they already know we're here.

[ which wasn't exactly the most pleasant of thoughts. but given what she knew about criminals already, she could only assume that they would think the same as the boys and would have been watching them for some time now. ]

And no reason, [ she lightly added as she looked over towards Korra, a faint smile on her lips. ] I just left a friend at the house, and I'm hoping he hasn't burnt it down by now.

[ it's a faint joke, of course (she really isn't worried about arthur) but admitting that she is still trying to get a handle of how the time worked in this dream wasn't exactly something she could easily admit to. ]

[She is taking off as quickly as she might, before it gets too dark to properly see anything. She is not a Fleur-de-Nuit, blessed with the ability to see in the dark, so she skims the treetops, sorely tempted to light a few on fire just to make it easier to see. ....Unfortunately, any secrecy they might have managed to old onto is probably lost with her flight. A big red dragon isn't exactly subtle.

In any case, after a few more passes, she lands again, somewhat near where camp is being set up, and proceeds to arrange herself in a pile of loops and curls.]

[Raimei cheerily picks a place to set up that appeals to her ninja-trained sensibilities of defensiveness and distance, and between all of them, they get it done quickly. By the time Iskierka is back from her flight, it looks like a camp, fully accounted for.

She watches with fascination as the dragon returns, because she really has no experience with them at all. But this one's an ally, so there's no wariness in Raimei as she watches-- just interest. And anyway, she can't indulge in her curiosity right now when there's things to do.]

Did you see anything while you were scouting? There's still some daylight left-- if there's something to go check out, I think we should do it now!

[Raimei's never content to put off what she could be doing right now.]

Oh yes, there are some shacks directly in the center, and some rows of rocks a bit further on. I did not land, of course, but I think there are kedan nearby. You may have to go in the shacks, I do not think I will fit in them very easily at all.

If you wish to do so now, I will stay here and guard our supplies. [Or, more likely, make a large wall around their tent and the cart and all that, if she can. She is, however, preening at Raimei's interest. She knows very well she's an impressive sight.]

[Amelia was a bit more used to dragons -- though not by much. The last one who had traveled with her had stayed in human form most of the time, and the mere idea of her staying to curl around the camp would have been unthinkable.]

[But no time to dwell on that: ACTION was at hand! Immediately the girl dropped what she was doing, springing to her feet, one finger jabbing towards the quarry.]

Okay! Yes! Let's catch some villains red-handed!

[. . . Never mind that Hei To hadn't actually said that there were kedan (or anything else) exploiting the turtle shell. There was a possibility, and for the moment, that was the most important. This was the closest she'd gotten to actually being able to help Tu Vishan, and she was going to take every advantage of it. Raimei's reverse of her earlier decision was a relief.]

[ ariadne's attention was on her sketchbook, quietly sketching the layout of their surroundings, when Iskierka speaks, causing her to look up and look clearly interested in the findings. ]

Did you see if they were armed? [ she asked as she tossed her sketchbook aside and turned towards Iskierka, her brow furrowing in slight thought. even if the Kedan are possible projections, it didn't exactly mean that she wanted to run in and get herself hurt without preparing (she only had so many bullets after all). ]

And you can see in the dark? [Korra’s voice was impressed and approving, she gave Iskierka a strong smile. The fire breathing had been more than enough for Korra to fawn over.] Yeah, I think you should guard everything until we come back.

[Ariadne's question left Korra with a raised eyebrow. That kind of thing never stopped her before. Both Raimei and Amelia had said exactly what Korra wanted to hear and she slammed her fist into her hand.]

Then let's go disarm them and take them down.

[Barreling through was Korra’s preferred method, and breaking through a door into one of the shacks was hardly a problem. Bending or no.]

[anomia]

Great! No one will mess with our stuff while you're here. [Raimei's not usually so complimentary, but hey, it's a huge dragon. Don't they like to horde things? Who'd mess with that?

Her own impulse to barrel into things is tempered by a long history of being raised in a world ruled by deception and sneakiness. She wants to go right now, and she's completely undaunted by them possibly being armed, but she's focused on the mission first and foremost.

Raimei unwraps her sheathed sword from its cloth carrying sling and holds it loose in one hand, determined and ready to go.] We need to approach cautiously, [she declares.] We have to assume they're armed and know we're coming, just to be safe.

Kedan aren't easy opponents. We need to see what's in one of those shacks, but let's try to keep the element of surprise for now! We have to investigate.

[kazilik]

Certainly they shall not. [She's making her way over to the tents and all their supplies, carefully curling around them and trying not to squish anything. She is not precisely happy about being left out of the action for now, but someone should stay, and as she said, she cannot fit in the sheds at all.]

Give them a good beating for me, if you encounter them. [And to Ariadne:] I could not see that closely, it is very close to dark. But if you need me, I will come.

I appreciate that, Iskierka. [ She says in return, offering the dragon a faint smile, before turning her attention back on her bag and pulling out her Beretta to casually (well, as casually as a girl that doesn't handle guns often could be) slide it in the back of her pants. ]

I admit. I'm not exactly the most skilled fighter here. [ she mutters somewhat apolitically as she frowns at her thoughts - she is suppose to be a college student, not fighter. And even with some of the training she had been receiving as of late, having to use any of those skills was always going to cause some concern for her – she didn't want anyone hurt because of her mistakes or lack of experience after all. ] So if we could try to avoid as much violence as possible, that would be great.

[ though she knows its not really likely to happen – the Kedan weren't exactly the nicest of people when it came to outsiders. ]

I suppose I'm ready when you all are though. [ she finished with a sigh, turning her attention in the directions of shacks, her brow furrowing as she mentally prepared herself for whatever might come. ]

[Amelia is more the charge-right-in type herself, but again, no powers have tempered her into at least some caution.]

Was there any cover near the shacks? We could at least use that for a bit. But if there isn't anything, it's going to be hard just being out in the open like that . . . There's not really any way they could not know we were coming, especially if there's anyone already inside.

So maybe the best chance is getting as close to the buildings as soon as possible? That way there is some cover if we need it.

[She did see Ariadne's gun, and while she's a little wide-eyed over it (only just even having learned what they were in her own canon), she'll privately be glad the other girl has it.]

[A groan accompanies an eyeroll from Korra when she hears the word 'cautiously' since the element of surprise wasn't one she was too comfortable with. But with Ariadne's admission, Korra had little to argue with.]

This isn't my kind of thing. I'm more for kicking the door down and punching some faces than sneaking around, so I'll bring up the rear and watch our backs.

[If she was going to lead, it was going to be more of a charge than some tiptoeing.]

[anomia]

We'll send someone in to investigate, and the rest can stay behind in the cover! [she declares. Not that Raimei is all that prone to leading anyone, but she's decisive and hates standing around.

She also has absolutely no reaction to the presence of a gun. It's only sensible to be armed, right? It'd be crazy to come out here without a way to defend yourself.]

Don't worry, Korra, [she says cheerfully, setting off to start walking without another word, since they're all decided,] If there's someone to fight, I'll let you get first whack at them.

[She gives a parting wave to Iskierka.] Bye! [She intentionally leaves off her name so as not to admit that she can't remember it that well...]
