Event | Sinbrilee | Bacchanal
Characters: Any and all!
Date: August 24 - 30th
Location: Sinbrilee
Situation: An ancient festival of an ancient city, all are welcome at the Bacchanal!
Warnings/Rating: Please label threads as appropriate.
Death and destruction cannot curtail the single most important festival celebrated by the denizens of Sinbrilee: The Bacchanal! The ghosts in and about the city have begun to gossip about high fashion and festivities, sending any that inquire to the Amphitheatre -- a grand, circular structure nestled in the west side of the city.
This structure bore the fall of Sinbrilee and the wear of time with dignity, having lost handfuls of archways and one long stretch of wall to crumbling decay. Despite this, it is obvious that the amphitheatre once hosted many a display and every more festivities than the mind can grasp. This was their solace and safety; here is where the people of Sinbrilee came to find the mind's escape from all that threatened them and their great turtle.
Ghosts have been busy throughout the week, clearing paths through debris and hanging great cloth banners of soft blues and greens to disguise the more blatant signs of its decline. Many hundreds of them shimmer and slid through the area, providing for tables upon tables of food, offering drink, and overseeing competition of sport and skill (some even denying death's non-corporeal curse to enter).
Here, well... Here is where the party begins!

Re: Bucky Barnes
Bucky was impressive. It seemed like he'd finally found the secret to besting his ghost counterpart. Isaac could even take notes. He realized that wrestling a ghost would be freaking pointless but like Bucky, he saw that they had to be able to touch him - and that meant they could be touched.
"You got it!" he found himself yelling, encouraging the stranger. Now he was actually rooting for him.
I AM SORRY THAT THIS IS FOREVER LATE!
But, the other problem with flesh and bone. He got tired, and, eventually, got pinned down. Then he heard the encouraging call to himself, and that distracted him for a moment, missing his chance to at least try to get free before his time ran out, according to the rules...
Though, when he was let up, he was smiling over at the young man, waving at him as he caught his breath. "Thanks!"
DENIED. kidding. IT IS QUITE ALL RIGHT.
"I thought you had him." He really did. "You're good." Keeping his eyes level, he made sure to not drop his gaze. At all. It seemed rude. It could also give Bucky the wrong idea. He didn't know if had an idea for someone to be wrong about but, either way, eyes were akimbo.
LE GASP!
After the spectres... he was far from done with the ghosts.
"You can't win them all, but thanks."
And then, he did wander over the the teen, reaching out a hand to shake (after wiping it clean, yes).
"Name's Bucky, Bucky Barnes. Nice to meetcha."
LE HUG!
He shook Bucky's hand, shaking it firmly. His dad always liked firm handshakes.
"Isaac. Lahey. You too." A beat passes. He fights the urge to say 'I could take you.' He's a normal teen here on the turtle.
... acceptable! Right back atcha!
Though Bucky does grin. "Yeah, rematch is what I'm gunning up for." Good handshake. He likes that.
Though, after a moment, Bucky does raise his eyebrows at. Something in the way Isaac is looking at him.
"Somethin' bothering you?" The question's easy, he's just curious, not suspicious.
what a lovely bunch of titles and sure, cocounts
His father would be proud.
"No," he says, easily. "Guess I thought about wrestling. For a second. But, you'd take me down." It's a lie that slips out so easily. He shrugs, the picture of normal.
Sure, let's juggle those.
It's not an offer for right now, because Bucky does have his eye on the ghosts, still, but later...
Definitely.
Better than juggling knives!
"But, hey, you have a rematch to get to. I wouldn't want to interrupt that." He would. He really would. He'd take you down.
Only if you're in the stage where you're cutting your fingers.
Maybe you could, kid. Except Bucky's been training against Captain America for over two years now, and equally-strong (and fast) kedan in the last... over a year.
He might surprise you.
And that's not even taking into account Natasha's training.
This may be interesting, if and when it happens.
"And that I do. And another one, and I'll probably manage one more before I get too tired to do any good, but it'll be a start."
Bucky's mouth twists in a sort of a smirk.
"Lucky the ghosts don't go for possession. But I've still got some payback to dish out."
And knives are better than chainsaws. I think everything's better than chainsaws.
It was how he'd learned to be a werewolf. Even if he was taught by an alpha learning as he went as well. It would be interesting. Isaac has the strength, some of the agility and his puppy dog eyes. But, he has no wrestling experience. His fighting is more like parkour and acrobatics, than anything.
"Can they possess you?" His eyes go wide. "That seems like cheating."
Now I'm just thinknig of Lord Valentine's Castle and all the juggling there.
And those who didn't get to experience it should count themselves lucky. That part goes without saying.
Think away!
W00
The latter part, though, got Bucky to smile.
"I'm a boxer, or was, a long time ago. But since they don't offer boxing - why not?" He shrugs. "Last year, there was a welcoming festival. Though it was against kedan, then. Kinda timely, to find out they're a bit stronger 'n faster than what people call 'baseline humans'. Before we had to fight 'em or something."
Yes, Bucky's being helpful. Some information, if not grasped sooner, he could give.
you know it
"Yeah, that's helpful. Learn about them before you have to naked wrestle them." Whoops, maybe he shouldn't mention the naked part of the naked wrestling. "Boxing's cool. You could teach classes if they don't offer it." Like kick-boxing. Which, he knows, isn't boxing.
... and then, a month later... feel free to drop, if too late!
Bucky blinks at the part about teaching, though.
"I'm pretty sure there's a lot of people here who're much better at both fighting and teaching than I am. Some of them've offered already, over the network." Beat. "Some of them are even still here."
"... and, naked in the warm is better than fully clothed and went and cold in the muck. You do what you can, right?"
never too late?
"I'd take naked in the warm." Besides, look at his body.
Yay!
Too many.
But then his lopsided smile returns, and he waves towards the wrestling.
"See? My thought exactly."
no subject
"But, I could take you." A cockiness emerges, his brow raising.
no subject
"Ya think so?"
no subject
no subject
Not that Bucky's willing to rise to a challenge, or anything.
no subject
He gives a smirk. "How about, because." A shrug. "Another time, then."
no subject
A moment, and he nods. "Right. Yeah, another time. I'll get back to my... ghosts."
