Event | Sinbrilee | Bacchanal
Characters: Any and all!
Date: August 24 - 30th
Location: Sinbrilee
Situation: An ancient festival of an ancient city, all are welcome at the Bacchanal!
Warnings/Rating: Please label threads as appropriate.
Death and destruction cannot curtail the single most important festival celebrated by the denizens of Sinbrilee: The Bacchanal! The ghosts in and about the city have begun to gossip about high fashion and festivities, sending any that inquire to the Amphitheatre -- a grand, circular structure nestled in the west side of the city.
This structure bore the fall of Sinbrilee and the wear of time with dignity, having lost handfuls of archways and one long stretch of wall to crumbling decay. Despite this, it is obvious that the amphitheatre once hosted many a display and every more festivities than the mind can grasp. This was their solace and safety; here is where the people of Sinbrilee came to find the mind's escape from all that threatened them and their great turtle.
Ghosts have been busy throughout the week, clearing paths through debris and hanging great cloth banners of soft blues and greens to disguise the more blatant signs of its decline. Many hundreds of them shimmer and slid through the area, providing for tables upon tables of food, offering drink, and overseeing competition of sport and skill (some even denying death's non-corporeal curse to enter).
Here, well... Here is where the party begins!

Tommy had said he would get Billy up to date on things when he arrived, but so far she hasn't actually talked to him. It's not that she doesn't want to get to know him so much as...it means this situation is further complicated by another person. One who may come into things with his own set of expectations.
When she sees someone who looks so much like Tommy, so much like her sitting on the couches, it seems as good a time as any to finally bring about their first meeting. Taking a deep breath, she approaches him and makes a conscious effort to smile.]
Is this seat taken?
no subject
It was her. It was Wanda. Not the same Wanda, but she looked the same. She looked like how she looked when he went to Avenger's mansion, just to sit there and figure things out. When she came and looked at his bruises and told him he could stand up for himself, because he had the strength to do it.
The power. Except she hadn't meant the same as her or anything, but. He gives a smile back, a little nervous, a little scared. Not of her, of course, just...]
No! I mean, no, it's not. You can sit here, if you'd like. [He moved over a little.] Of course you'd like to, you just asked, but... sure, yeah. Yeah.
no subject
Attempting a reassuring smile, one that usually only family sees, Wanda sits next to him. She doesn't speak right away, giving him a moment to get used to her before starting.]
We're a little overdue for a visit and when I saw you sitting here, I thought now might be a good time to say hello.
[Hi, she's your not!mom and slightly less awkward about this now than she had been when first hearing. Billy gets the benefit of Wanda already having had time to get accustomed to this odd crossing of dimensions.]
Have you been settling in alright?
no subject
Yes, he's a little flustered. But very happy, as she can probably tell from the grin she gets back.]
I'm glad you did. Really glad! [She did look a little different, but not in a bad way or anything. Tommy was right: the hairstyle was a little different.]
I've been doing pretty good. I got settled pretty quickly, and Tommy found me, obviously, he was the one who told me that you were here. [And to give her time by having him think about how he would feel if his son in an alternate dimension came up and said hi.]
And I've spent time looking around, and in this place, too... found a lot of stuff, too. [He laughs.]
So, yeah. Um. How are you? I don't know what to ask or anything, it's really great to finally meet you.
no subject
Just from how he speaks he seems rather distinct in their transdimensional family.]
I'm fine, thank you. I'm pleased to meet you as well, though I'm sorry the Wanda you've found isn't the one from your world.
[Only for his sake, however. Wanda didn't much care to meet with his world's Wanda after all she'd heard the other, older woman had done.]
And if you don't know what to ask about, perhaps instead you'll tell me a little about yourself?
no subject
Ah, the Wanda that they found. He knew that they found her, but not... anything else. He didn't want to know, and Tommy didn't tell him. Which is what he'll say to her.] Yeah, Tommy is actually further along the timeline then I am? Because he's from... well, I guess when we found her. Our Wanda. But I'm only starting the search for her. So it's all kind of mixed up and everything.
[But it was nice to know that they'd found her, anyway. He smiled brightly at her.]
Okay! Um, what would you like to know?
no subject
Anything about you, your life. Your interests, childhood, anything.
[Smiling a bit more.]
Or we could talk about your power. Tommy says yours is somewhat similar to mine?
no subject
Um... my mom and dad are both doctors, and I have two younger brothers. The biological ones, I mean, because I have Wanda, but it's... that's weird. I really like comic books and video games! I'm kind of geeky like that, I guess. I have a group of friends, they're so great, I don't know what I would do without them. [He turns bright red for a moment.] I'm seeing someone, too. And it's. It's better then I ever dreamed, you know? It's amazing.
[Okay, now he's blushing, but it fades away as he nods in response.] Yeah! It's like yours. Or our Wanda's. It's magic, you know? It's pretty much magic made by wishing for something really hard.
no subject
And he's seeing someone. In love, by the way he's blushing.]
Interesting that your power is...will based. Whereas mine is more situated in mathematics and probability.
[She pauses a moment.]
Do things ever happen without conscious effort? Emotional based responses and such?
no subject
He doesn't want to talk about the Cube. Or think about it. What he'd done and not done still haunted him now.]
I'm sort of glad mine isn't like that. Or maybe it is, and I just don't know it yet? But I don't have to think of...
[He trails off, nodding, because it goes right into her question.] Yeah. It doesn't happen a lot, I mean, I don't think it does? I'm really still learning how to control it. I had this thing happen before I got here, and I didn't remember any of it, or even going to do it?
[He pauses.] And sometimes... I know I'm sort of trusting you really fast, and I hope that's okay, because I think you're the only one who might get this better then I do, even if we're not from the same universe.
[He fidgets a moment.] But sometimes I wonder if I do things without knowing, or. I don't know how to explain it. It's like, maybe I was lonely, and I wished I had friends, but not actually wished, just a general 'it'd be nice to have some friends' feeling, and then I got friends, but I. Do you understand?
